Delighted or Disappointed?

Today was the start of my second week of fasting. I weighed myself this morning and I have apparently lost 4lb!! I was so happy because I hadn't been particularly watching what I ate on my non fast days. I was so surprised I went back upstairs twice to check the scales were set to zero and I was reading them right! Its definitely been good motivation for my fasting today! I've also lost half an inch off my waist!
 Wow well done @fourtherecord That is by far the best motivational booster ever you do your 5:2 and sit back enjoy your weekend and then let this WOL weave its magic on you now that's made you to behave yourself this week Yes deffo.
Congratulations!!

Now please don't let this color the rest of your month. First weeks are often full of big losses which are often some fat loss with a lot of water weight lost. Don't look at a "gain" next week or the week after and despair.

To lose a pound of fat, you need to cut 3500 calories out of your diet. To gain a pound of fat is the same. But we can vary our water weight by as much as four pounds.

So if you keep slow and steady, you will most likely find your weight loss averages 1 pound per week over a longer period of time. Some of those losses will be big, some weeks may show a gain. Just be patient and try not to get too affected by the scales in any one week!
Thanks:-) I'm sure most of it is water, but it was just really nice to see when I stepped on the scales! I felt so hungry today but this managed to get me through it. I'll be happy if I average a lb/week
My philosophy since starting 5:2 has been that I could have lost weight faster with other diets. But, I would have given up after 12 or 16 weeks. So I could have lost 20lb with them, but having done this over and over again I know the 20lbs goes straight back on plus a few friends. Now 5:2 may be slower, but 1lb per week equals 52lbs a year. Even at only 2lbs every 3 weeks its still 34lbs. Thats 34 or 52lbs lost in the easiest way possible, slow enough so it becomes a way of life, a sustainable way of life. Not a quick fix.
It's a good boost fortherecord. Take heed at what tracie says and to counter that make friend with your tape measure. You've lost from your waist- great as that's the good health indicator.
Have you measured anywhere else? bust, waist, hips, widest bit, thighs, calves, upper arms? Yep they all loose and if you add it all up (especially in millimetres ;)) it is a big number.
Well done and keep it up!
