A turning point?
15 Dec 2013, 11:55
I was brought up (indoctrinated) to eat everything on my plate, wasn't allowed to leave the table before that. As a child this led to some very long evenings alone at the table when faced with something particularly inedible - even worse when cold and congealed, or a banana...

It's something I've struggled to break free from ever since.

So I feel I had a major victory last night. Out for Christmas pub dinner with friends:

Starter - baked Camembert with half a plate of salad: confess I ate all the yummy gooey cheese and just picked at the salad

Main - beef, individual YP, roast tatties, veg: ate most (but not all) of the beef, some of the YP, just one of the roasties, carrots, broccoli, one boiled sprout (yep, always had to 'try' something even though I've always hated boiled sprouts. They're tolerable when lightly-roasted)

Dessert - lemon cheesecake: ate less than half the portion [insert 'halo' smiley]

Passed on the mince pie.

All washed down with copious amounts of lime & soda and one small red wine, although this virtuousness was purely due to driving.

Am feeling very pleased with myself today, also still bloated and looking forward to a FD tomorrow!

Well done  @madmittens for breaking the cycle! It's so hard to leave food on your plate when you've been brought up to eat everything put before you. :like:
