bad week for 5:2ing...
05 Dec 2013, 19:13
well, Thanksgiving was wonderful... and then I failed my first "at home" fasting day. and then I stepped on the scale and it's 3 pounds up from before thanksgiving. then I got sick, and attempted a fasting day with a cold. (starve a cold, right??) but failed that one as well.

the good news is I haven't gained any MORE. but I haven't managed a good fast since a week ago Tuesday. will I ever get back on track? I'm getting so discouraged.

any words of encouragement would be soooo greatly welcome right now. sorry to beg for help.... feels a bit selfish.

Hi skinnyminny. No such thing as a failed fast. It's just taking you longer to get back in the saddle that's all. It's only a week! Get those carbs out of your system and load up on fats and then do a fast. See how you feel then.

Happens to us all and will do you no harm at all.

You can do it! :like: Don't worry about the fasts that didn't quite work, concentrate on the next one and make sure you're organised, sort your meal(s) out and any snacks you have. Log on here if you feel like you can't keep going.

You know you can do this!

Oh dear, poor you!
I thought that it was 'feed a cold, starve a fever'..... So maybe you should eat some fruit?
Honey and lemon is always soothing as are satsumas or toast spread with honey.
It might be a good idea to go easy on yourself and have plenty of healthy foods now, then resume fasting next year.
I am currently suffering with a virus which is causing a cough, I have continued fasting, but will stop next week as our son will return from Uni and family gatherings will commence! (I don't want to miss out!)
I hope you feel better soon and don't be too hard on yourself, all these festivities only come once a year!
Happy Christmas!

Try to reduce the carbs, eats lots of veggies and lean protein and plan ahead for a fasting day. Perhaps check out some recipes beforehand so you are not too tempted. You can fit a couple of fasts in before Christmas but don't let it upset you!

 Yes I also thought "feed a cold "

Only 3lbs that's good, and now you're not well so concentrate on getting better first, then sort the fasts
We all get bad day's/weeks so don't worry and put this behind you and forget it now, start again when you're better  Sue

Now you've got me confused, which one do you starve?

Who cares, I fell of the wagon when I had brochitis and put on 6lb. I lost it all and a little bit more but I did have to plan the reentry to fasting. I had a day of low carb, then had my fast. Its much easier when you don't have excess sugars galloping through your bloodstream and upsetting your insulin response.

thanks for all the support guys. and I guess I did right by feeding my cold then. lol. tomorrow is a fast day, and I'm determined for it to be a success and get back on track. at this point I don't think I'm going to make my christmas goal, but that's okay... I'll make next year's christmas goal.

I've had a bad week, too.

Trouble over an ebay purchase that went bad.

I did feel the need for a hit and unfortunately it's put me behind a week or so. Be aware guys, if you think you'll get away with it for xmas, I doubt you will.
