Delighted or Disappointed?

This is my first update since restarting 5:2 on 15th July. (I first started 5:2 in January so looking at my profile you might think I had been on the WOE for a while). Unfortunately I very quickly fell off the wagon earlier in the year, despite my best intentions. The reason is largely due to being a SAD sufferer and I had a bad winter this year, despite using all my usual methods to help me feel better. I am always a totally different person in the spring and summer and really felt our late spring this year. Also, it has to be said, I definitely overate on the feast days last time around.

So I am delighted that, this time around, since July 15th I have lost 9.5 pounds. (I did also lose 2lbs the week before I restarted 5:2 so a total of 11.5 pounds off since July 9th.) Hopefully I can continue to lose a realistic amount before hitting the inevitable plateau and before my holiday in September. After that my goal will be to ensure this WOE is so ingrained in me that the winter blues will not send me straight to comfort eating and I can just rely on the other tools I use for coping with that (SAD lamp, Vit D and walking). :clover:

Well done for taking control of your eating again and congratulations on a magnificent loss so far! Just one thing to pick up on from your post - a plateau isn't inevitable!

It does seem to happen to some people but if you look at my tracker you will see no plateau (at least - only now when I am maintaining!). You will see some weeks when I gained, - hugely - due to holidays, but these were always followed by the weight coming off again, even though it may have taken a few weeks. In fact, I have wondered if those two periods of over-eating may have prevented a plateau - although I have no scientific basis for that idea!

Anyway, enough about me! Good luck in your weight-loss 'journey' and keep us posted on how you're getting on!
