First stone (almost) gone!!
20 Sep 2013, 01:41
Hi guys, its been a while since I've posted.

I was pretty disappointed when I weighed in last time (june) after 10 weeks fasting and had only lost 6 pounds. I felt quite disheartened as I wasn't sure whether the fasting was really working for me. (I was also exercising loads too) Since then I had 2 weeks off and for a few weeks was sometimes only doing 1 fast per week. However, the last few weeks I have gave it my all again and decided to eat 450 cals on fast days instead of 500. Not sure if what's made the difference but today when I weighed in I've lost another 6 pounds!! I'm so happy to know I'm going in the right direction! It's definitely gave me loads more motivation!

Nobody should be disappointed about the extent of their weight loss on this forum. Slow and steady is the way.

You are certainly heading in the right direction

There is probably a lot too it than just skimping by 50 calories. For me i went for the extra day of fasting per week and i love it. Ocassionally, like this week social obligations make me do only 2 but i think 4:3 is great. Means i can be a real foodie on my other 4 days.

this is a great thread

Keep at it LL and although it's difficult try to take the long term view that your weight can vary even on a week by week basis but if you're sticking at your exercise, observing your fast days and not going nuts on eating days then you're going to lose weight. And that doesn't even factor in the health-benefits of the fasting - depending on how you look at it the weight loss is just a happy side-effect of the fasting's health benefits, or vice versa.

My weight chart goes up and down like a particularly exciting toboggan ride but it's going in the right direction and even when my weight goes up I know it would have gone up far more without the fast days. (I treat Friday to Sunday like a 70s dinner party, stuffed inside a Tudor banquet, stuffed inside a Roman feast so I'm not exactly making it easy for myself.)

Yeah I think it can get a bit disheartening when you feel as though your really doing well with eating and exercising but don't seem to be losing as much as some lucky people! However the last few weeks I've taken the pressure/focus off fasting and exercising a bit so I am genuinely surprised to see such a difference! I don't have scales at home so I only weight myself every few weeks. This is the most weight I've (intentionally) lost EVER!!

I know what you mean dashingbob, my weekends are my absolute feast days too!(Although getting better :-) )

Glad to hear it Rawkaren. I honestly started to think 5:2 maybe just wasn't working out for me and so I was really shocked to see such a difference at my last weigh in. I would have been quite happy (and was also expecting) just to be at the very the very top end of 10 stone! The last few weeks for me have been pretty effortless so I feel now that its definitely worth powering on! I think I may be a slow loser because I'm already in a healthy BMI range so although it is coming off, its less than a pound a week which really frustrated me at first. After nearly reaching my first stone I definitely feel that it's all been worth it.
