For a change, a loss!
31 Oct 2013, 21:41
I've only been doing this for a few weeks and two weeks ago, I headed over to New Zealand for a family wedding. For two weeks, all it seemed like we were doing was eating, eating, and eating some more. We had friends to see and family functions to attend and while it was lovely, I despaired for my weight loss.

With all the social stuff, I realised that fasting wasn't going to happen, so I tried to go 16/8 as much as I could, sometimes making it, sometimes not. Which meant that I dreaded getting on the scales this morning.

And YET! Somehow, despite it all, I managed to lose 0.5 kgs. Not a massive loss by any means but so much better than the 2kg gain I was expecting. I do think that just being aware of my hunger meant that even though I was eating more often, I was eating less.

Next week I'm back on 5/2 properly and onwards and downwards!

Edited to change two days to two weeks - it was a lot of eating!

Hi Mandy, like you said...a0.5 kg loss is better than a 2 kg gain! And it is still a loss!
Life happens and things and people can get in the way of 5:2 but if we are rigid in our regime we might as well just go off and live in a cave or a monastery or something!
Youve proved you can incorporate 5:2 into normal family and social life,so well done!

That's exactly it @CandiceMarie - I love that this isn't completely prescriptive and can be incorporated into whatever you have going on. Sure, I could have lost more (maybe) had I been able to fast while I was away but I was still able to use what I've learnt so far.
Unlike every other time, when my mindset has been 'oh well, the diet's blown, might as well have fun' and I've come home to bad numbers!
