Great surprise!

I can't believe it!
Here I am, after 7 weeks of holidays, staying at other people's houses and eating quite a lot more than I should have (including ice cream, pastries etc.) and I haven't put on weight!

The only thing I did religiously is keep fasting twice a week. Usually I put on 2 or 3 kilos during the summer holidays and it takes me ages to lose them (until I put them back at Christmas... you get the idea)

It really does work, then. I know I am only playing with a small margin as I only had a few kilos to lose, but that also means that my efforts are easily wiped out by a few excesses, which is usually so depressing.

I can tell you that there are "fasting" days when I ate way more than 500 calories, but I always respected the fasting window and it seems to have made all the difference.

Only a small kilo to lose now and I'm done!

This results also suggests that I have found a formula for weight maintenance that works for me: 5:2 but with a generous meal on fast days (maybe 700-800 cals?)

Yes! Maintenance after 5:2 seems to be working with no effort. I stopped fasting twice since I started, once for 10 days and once for 3 weeks and both times I gained no weight without trying not to.
Somehow, going from losing to not gaining is easy-peasy and I love it!!!

Wasn't able to fast for a week on a family break. Fasted yesterday and got on the scales very gingerly this morning - have maintained pre-break weight. I'm in a state of bewildered bliss - I was eating, if not for Britain, certainly far more than I do at home. After all these months I still don't understand what goes right, when it does!
