I am disappointed in myself
12 Nov 2013, 02:29
Hello Everybody

It was my fast day yesterday, but I might as well not have posted I was going to do so. I really let myself down, as I allowed emotional instinctive eating to take control of me!

I am grappling with a family problem I currently have, and it nearly all came to a head on Saturday at the Hen's day, but I stopped it - by over-eating!

Yesterday I ate my way through one large bag of corn chips; four slices of buttered toast; several sweet biscuits; several cheese biscuits; cheese sandwich and copious cups of coffee and tea. And that was all before the evening meal of creamy pasta salad and steak!

Today is not much better - having already had four slices of hot buttered toast; sweet biscuits, and a very large bowl of Lamb and Vegetable soup.

I am seeing the counselor later today to discuss this latest emotional baggage I am carrying around - and am hoping she can set me on the correct path and hope to give me some coping skills.

On Saturday morning I proudly advised I had a loss of .500g - sadly I think I have now piled it all back on!!

Sorry I needed to vent, I hope you don't mind.

cheers Maggie.

Dear Maggie, Don't despair. Many have fallen off the wagon only to climb right back on. I stopped fasting and coming on the forum for several weeks or maybe two months. I have gained one pound. Not bad yet I cannot get back to fasting no matter how I try. I fell into the overweight category so I still have another 30 to go for health. I am back to the forum hoping for support to get back into the swing od fasting. My confession for stopping the faating is as follows...My 10 year old grandson lives with me and wanted a toaster for well toast with butter and jelly. I new this was a bad idea because bread is my downfall and yes I fell. Then Halloween arrived and I bought candy for the kiddies except I hid in my bed and ate all the candy myself while watching Doc Martin on my laptop. So tonight as I clean up the hidden empty wrappers I am back on the forum to help motivated me back to fasting. Oh also I am knitting my first Aran sweater for my daughters thirty birthday present so I am on a deadline and I never finished a knitting project in my life but she asked and I love her so. So after all that I say life gets in the way of a lot of things so don't fret about it just move on. I for one will try.

Family problems are a big pain in the bottom  I hope the counsellor can be of help. As for fasting, one step at a time, it's long term not a quick fix.
Can I suggest that if you are eating the bad stuff at home that you rid your house of it. Fill the fruit bowl,(hard to binge on apples) the veggie drawer in the fridge (I've not heard of anyone bingeing on zucchinis  ) No packaged stuff as it's not as easy to binge if you have to make it from scratch.
Keep your chin up and don't forget you are among lots and lots of friends.

I can only echo what the others have said. Don't be too hard on yourself. Life gets very tough at times but there'll be a light at the end of the tunnel and you'll get back to fasting when you're ready. In the meantime, try not to worry too much about it.

Big hugs

Don't be hard on yourself, life throws up all sorts of things which can knock us down :clover:

How about forgetting fasting this week, or maybe just one day, or half a fast. You have alot going on to be beating yourself up as well :like:

Feel free to vent as much as you need. This forum offers great support and due to the time differences (being a global network of fasters) there is probably someone on at all hours ready to offer support.

Hang in there, don't beat yourself up and I hope you and your counsellor can find a solution to help you along on your journey.

 Hi Maggiee We all have those day's/weeks so your not alone but you need to put it behind you NOW and move on before extra damage is done I know its easy for me to say coz of your problems but if you end up with a massive gain you'll be in a much bigger mess completely
on a recent 7night holiday I returned with a 5kg gain and this forum has taught me that it can't be all a Fat gain so I got back on board again and 10 days later it had gone, I'd worked hard at 4:3 + 16:8 but for me it was worth it
That's what you need to do " pull your socks up now " because you are so worth it regardless to what is going on around you at this moment in time, so your focus should be on yourself and how worthy you are. Good. Luck :clover: Sue. :clover:

A very big thank you to all of you for your help and support.
I have done some serious self-talking and have decided to be mature about it and not let the emotional baggage affect my WOE, and eventually to my weight loss.

Once again, many thanks for the helpful tips and advice it is all very much appreciated.

I will resume the fasting on Thursday, my normal Fasting day.

cheers Maggie.

don't be worrying - to be honest, I didn't think your binge was that bad. I could easily get through that of a Saturday. One day at a time - counsellor should help but control one meal at a time might also help. Every time you control - its a victory. 10 times in and you have a new habit
