Just crashed my fast day
24 Jan 2014, 18:19

This is the first time I've succumbed to temptation on a fast day. Was doing fine, no breakfast, home made tomato soup at 12.30, (100 cals), another bowl at 4pm,(100 cals) then turkey with mushrooms, onions and peas at 5.30, with tiny bit of potato, (300 cals). Was going to stop there, but no, just ate two chocs and some fudge, so now I estimate I have had a total of 700 cals today, including some milk, and I'm tempted to forget the whole fast today and have a couple of glasses of wine - it's Friday, and I rarely fast on a Friday, but it was my birthday on my usual day this week.
I just felt I had to come on here and confess straight away, because I'm so disappointed with myself :frown:

Don't be disappointed, sometimes this happens just don't make a habit of it  .

You have two choices -

1. stop where you are. A 700 cal fast is much better than a normal day,or

2. drink the wine, enjoy and forget about it.

Soobidoobs, do you know something, Wildmissus is EXACTLY right. You have two choices, both are ways forward, neither is a way back, so, pick one and just go with it, you can't undo the 700 calories. Which is it to be? :?:

Weve all done it soobidoos. Just call it a mini fast or an aborted fast, depending on what you consume later.
Draw a line under it and move on.

I thought I replied, but post didn't appear  .

Anyway, thanks for your replies, much appreciated. Not sure if I will totally abort the fast yet. Will let you know. I'm feeling quite full at this point!!, and just had some diet coke and not wine, so that's a good sign

Had a piece of toast, an apple, and a couple of pieces of fudge, so yeah, blown it. Never mind, Monday will be another day!

The other day i had 2 tablespoons of Milo Malt powder straight from the can on a fast day! at about 9pm. not sure what got into me.

i read subsequently its 1/2 sugar so even though the labels says its full of vitamins and goodies. it tastes so good it must be bad for you right?

I only had 1/2 tablespoon the last fast day but said to myself i must not do that, i must not do that i must not do that.

i still lost weight through day so perhaps 1/2 tablespoon didnt do too much damage

momentary brain snaps can happen. we are only human

This is why I love this forum so much. On this forum, you can admit your "confession", people say (as above) it happens, dust yourself off, brush off and move forward. its such a positive experience. it's good to know that we all have fast like this and it's also good to know we can do it again in a better way. good luck and have a great day whatever you choose to do , there's always next time. My experience has been that forums in the States are much less forgiving & highly critical when these things happen. This really is a wonderful community.

And most importantly Happy Birthday for the other day @Soobidoobs! :present: :cake:
As everyone has said we are human. I'm in the same boat as you sort of. I start my new job this week- just half a day tomorrow. I am supposed to get back in to proper fasting this week after 5 weeks of modified maintenance fasting. I am unexpectedly having lunch with good friends one of which MIL just died. i thought "oh,no! I am fasting tomorrow". Then i thought " who knows when we're getting together again and she needs our support now plus its my birthday week and I'm starting a new job!" Life's meant for living. I'll just make it a 18:6 then fast properly on Thursday. Come to think of it I did that today. Just went on a hard bushwalk with no fuel in the tank and as I'm walking up out of the valley I'm just thinking about all the fat I'm burning then just had food at 2 pm. Love this flexibility. Fight the good fight Sue. :like:
