M'eh

First two weeks I did great. 3lbs week one and 1lb week 2. Last week I stayed the same. Now, I'm sure AF was a factor and I'm hoping that with her over and done with this week, I'll see a loss again. A friend of mine is having wonderful success with Cambridge, and even though the idea of complete meal replacement is not appealing to me, a loss of a stone in three weeks is VERY appealing. Please, for the love of God, talk me down!

Slowly slowly catchee monkee .... 1lb a week average, steady as she goes.

I was that "average" and sure am glad I was. 6 months to lose 28lbs, 6 months later & I still can't find them

izzy is so right! Cambridge meal replacements might sound like a a quick fix but they won't teach your friend anything about long term weight maintenance, healthy appetite control or good nutrition. As soon as she returns to her former way of eating she will probably regain any pounds she has lost. You know it makes sense to eat proper food, stick to your TDEE for most of the time and fast a couple of days a week and you will reach your goal!

Don't do it LittleMiss. What happens when she stop doing Cambridge? This way is a way of life for ever, for the health benefits and the weight loss. Yes, it is slow and there are ups and downs but it is sustainable.

4 lb in 3 weeks is not to be sniffed at!
I didnt lose an ounce for five weeks..now THAT is "Meh!" Double Meh in fact!
Pls dont do the Cambridge diet..i lost weight on a similar VLC diet, but i am fatter than ever now after starving self for many weeks on horrible drinks.
At last i'm learning about eating good nourishing food and accepting one pound a week off that stays off is the only way to go! X like the tortoise and the hare story   x

Yes. You are all bang on the money! Thanks for pulling me back, I needed that! I shall persevere and get there in the long run. This is where I have failed in the past. Things don't go my way for a couple of weeks and I throw my toys out of the pram. Not this time!

Xxx to you all!

The weight loss phase is for such a short period of time in the scheme of things, usually a few months to a couple years. So many people only focus on this weight loss phase and that's one of the reasons around 95% fail at long term weight loss success. To succeed at this whole thing long term you need to look beyond that short weight loss period and look ahead to the many, many years of maintenance-that's the challenging part. What's going to be doable for the next 20, 30, 40+ years? Are you honestly going to be able to follow the Cambridge diet for that long? Will it teach you the tools you need, in order to be successful in maintenance? Is it going to be good not only for your physical health, but also your mental health and happiness?

That's the truly beautiful thing about IF-it's so simple and sustainable. No food choice restrictions, no hard to follow rules. And it really does work. Not only for weight loss, but also for maintenance :victory:
