Delighted or Disappointed?

10 posts Page 1 of 1
Just back from two weeks in France, with lots of food and wine. No, I mean it, I really didn't hold back. And no exercise, walked up a couple of hills that's all. And a bit of messing in the pool, but no actual swimming.

And I maintained my weight. Now, how weird is that? I was quite sure I would have put half a stone on.

Yay! Giving myself a slow start, will do 6:1 this week (Wednesday) and then back to 5:2 next week when daughter is back at school.

My initial goal was 11 stone (I'm now 11st 10lb, just over 3 stone down from where I started), but I have revised this to 10 stone as I think that's probably nearer the mark. That would only take me just within the healthy section of BMI, but I really can't see me weighing less than that! So, 24lb to go then....
That's wonderful Sweedey why do you think that you didn't put on weight on your hols? Smaller portions? Did you fast or 16:8? I'm curious because I'm going to Thailand in early October and I'm not sure which approach to take. Thanks.
Honestly didn't try. Breakfast was bread and cheese or jam, lunch sometimes more bread and cheese or ham, or proper cooked lunch (pizza, pasta, meat and potato, sometimes two courses), dinner things like chicken with roast veg (didn't hold back on the olive oil), garlic (butter!!) prawns or paella. Not too many sweet things, the odd ice cream, but no puddings. Lots of wine though. And some nuts and crisps the second week. I suppose dinners were pretty much what I eat at home (I cooked most nights), but lots more for lunch. And all that bread..

I decided not to fret about it, and it seems to have worked.
That's brilliant Swedey! :like:
You have done so well this year and it's great that you had a good holiday too. Yay! :victory:
Thank you for posting. That's brilliant. I am so inspired by these posts from those people returning from holidays who have enjoyed food and wine and still not gained weight - there are certainly a few of you who have experienced this so I am very hopeful for my own much anticipated holiday, France in Sept! I will be following your example and just not fret about food whilst away. But if I do gain, well I will just have to go back to my 4:3 routine and move on, having enjoyed a great holiday :D
That is Great!
Well Done Sweedy that's a fantastic result :like: but very Weird :like:
You've done brilliantly well and now moving the goalposts
Hope I have similar results on my holiday in 5 weeks time ( Doughtfull )
Good Luck to you getting back on track. :clover: Sue
Well done Swedey, that is fantastic!!
I have just got back from a week in Italy, loads of pasta, pizza, wine, beer, gelato and I gained 6lbs. Gutted but kind of expected :-(
WOAH! Good for you, well done!
Your experience makes me feel very optimistic and I think that since I started 5:2 I gain less easily, even if I eat more.

I'm going on a trip next week and I will be very good before I leave (16:8 for 11 days and 5 fasts) but I am very worried about what will happen there. I plan to swim a lot but other than that the food will be plenty. I am not expecting to not gain but I hope to not gain more than 2 kilos. Another worry of mine is going back to fasting and attacking and 16:8ing when I get back. Am I thinking too much? Anyway, congratulations for doing the... undoable, I bet it is a wonderful feeling! :-)
