Today instead of dress down at work, I am prob dressed up a bit more as I am travelling straight after work to see my loved one @fixedwheel. Two yr anniversary

So I am wearing pretty tight cord Indigo leggings in grape (they come up tight so had to go for 16 instead of 14 !), and a long tunic which comes in a bit at the waist. Patterned front and arm cuffs. Ankle boots (whilst trying to hide the top of the socks underneath!). Bit of makeup (nothing fancy, foundation/blusher).

My colleague notices first, new top he asks ? I am sat down at this point so I reply, yes ! He is getting quite good at noticing new stuff creeping into my clothing He likes it when he asks the correct question

Next up, my boss stops me by the printer and says, look at you ! You are wearing exactly what I like my wife to wear Different way of putting things He went on to say, you look fab, you should be proud and hold your head high today (what about the other days I ask myself quietly , like we do when given a compliment)

and finally.... popped down the canteen to get my soup for lunch and a chap I know only to say hello to in the corridor, stops dead in front of me, gives me a quizzing look... (at this point, I am wondering what is coming next.. ), then speaks, wow, you have lost alot of weight, you look great He said I didn't reconise you.

I am liking today and big thanks to the male colleagues for noticing.

It didn't get off to a good start as I grabbed some new unworn jeggings which I bought early Sept (elasticated waist still !!), and they are a bit big (14). Same goes with some recent tops bought looking a tad loose.

However the top I settled on to wear today was a bit snug at a 12 when I bought it, and it fits perfectly today

It has amused me how men compliment different from women

I was an 18/20 back in June and sometimes 22....

Oh I bet you are over the moon @fixedwheel, hope you have your compliments speech ready for tonight

I asked him earlier Karen, you need to tell me what I look like from behind.. i.e. does my bum look big Can't really see behind me easily

So he is prepared... hopefully with the correct answer !

you must be walking on air minigill and just wait till your OH sees you, bet there will be even more compliments on how fantastic you are looking!x

i think i only get admiration from the Chubby Chaser element of the male population!
Except for my gentleman friend ( what the heck are you supposed to call a " boyfriend" when you're in your sixties?)
Have known him for 4 years and in that time,have lost,regained and now once again losing 4 stone..and he has never said a dickybird about the changes....just always tells me i look great.

We all need to accept and own and enjoy all compliments completely and unquestioningly..we deserve them,and especially you Min - to get down from a 22 is wonderful..do you feel like you're walking on air! You inspire me to keep going x

I think genuine and well meant compliments are lovely no matter who gives or receives them. I told a close female friend once that she looked VERY glamourous only to have her snipe back at me........."So, what you really mean is that I look like s..t normally, do I?" ..........I jokingly said I'd never complement her again if she was only going to turn my comments into insults, and I have been true to my word. Sad, very sad but I have heard her do the same thing to numerous other people and left them horribly embarrassed. I assume she struggles with confidence but how could you not see that this not the way to deal with it?

Men notice women.

Saw an ex work landlord of mine yesterday with his wife out shopping and after hellos as we all haven't seen each for a couple of years and out it came from him 'you are looking really great'

I have received lots of compliments from men especially in my ankle boots, tights and skirts. Yet women have said 'don't you think your skirt is too short' we are talking to the top of my knees or a split when I have tights all black everything covered. I am not interested in being mutton dressed up as lamb and know what looks OK. So it is interesting as to who compliments and who is enjoying with you your new more sassy self

Not wanting to let the sisterhood down but maybe it is good for all of us to notice how great people look and as @Ballerina points out accept our compliments

Wow @Minigill so many compliments in one day! You must have been a vision- any chance of a photo? Id love to see the outfit of what men would like their wives to wear and purple is my favorite color. Dont worry if not- I can imagine.
