Delighted or Disappointed?

6 posts Page 1 of 1
When I started this WOE at the end of January this year I was borderline obese and I knew that I had to try something different from the faddy diets that I had been following on and off for most of my life. Fasting seemed to make sense, and after the first couple of months I knew it was right for me.

At the end of February I was diagnosed with arthritis in my hip, having suffered with pain on and off for years. This reinforced my determination to lose weight.

Nine months in I have lost about a stone almost effortlessly. I don't bother counting calories or weighing out portions now, although I did for the first 6 months or so. On Mondays and Thursdays I eat one meal in the evening which I estimate to be under 500 kcal. On other days I eat whatever I feel like - good quality tasty food. There's no need to binge as there are no restrictions. I quite often skip breakfast if I don't feel hungry. I don't use 'low fat' products (one New Year resolution that I have kept!).

Recently I have been seeing a physiotherapist for my arthritis, and I have swapped walking for cycling, stopped going to the gym and plan to try aqua-aerobics. The result is that I am almost pain free now  I worried that reducing the amount of exercise that I did would have an effect on my weight, but it does not seem to have made any difference.

Overall I'm a delighted and healthier 5:2er
Hi Janet

lovely post and you sound so delighted! well done you :-)
Well done! You are a fab example of showing how 5:2 DOES make you lose weight, even if you don't change any other aspect of your life - although it sounds like it IS making you make other small changes, which will be of benefit. If you're not in a rush or particularly bothered about losing weight, then is sounds like a perfect lifestyle for you, with lots of added health benefits.
Inspirational post. Thank you.
Well done Janet
Brilliant result not only with the weightloss which is very good indeed but all the health benefits were all gaining from this amazing WOL and all your hard work in bringing it all together and making it happen. :clover: Sue. :clover:
Janet, congrats on your weight loss and even better to a reduction in your arthritis pain! I've recently been diagnosed with hip issue and will be seeing the physio next week. I'm anxious to get feedback on exercises to pursue/avoid as I fear my go-to routine was making it worse.

I love reading inspirational stories like yours from those who have made this a real way of life with proven benefits!
