When I started this WOE at the end of January this year I was borderline obese and I knew that I had to try something different from the faddy diets that I had been following on and off for most of my life. Fasting seemed to make sense, and after the first couple of months I knew it was right for me.
At the end of February I was diagnosed with arthritis in my hip, having suffered with pain on and off for years. This reinforced my determination to lose weight.
Nine months in I have lost about a stone almost effortlessly. I don't bother counting calories or weighing out portions now, although I did for the first 6 months or so. On Mondays and Thursdays I eat one meal in the evening which I estimate to be under 500 kcal. On other days I eat whatever I feel like - good quality tasty food. There's no need to binge as there are no restrictions. I quite often skip breakfast if I don't feel hungry. I don't use 'low fat' products (one New Year resolution that I have kept!).
Recently I have been seeing a physiotherapist for my arthritis, and I have swapped walking for cycling, stopped going to the gym and plan to try aqua-aerobics. The result is that I am almost pain free now I worried that reducing the amount of exercise that I did would have an effect on my weight, but it does not seem to have made any difference.
Overall I'm a delighted and healthier 5:2er
