:( put on

Hey

Feeling rather disheartened today

Put on 0.3lb (0.2kg) this week after doing 2 pretty good fast days (went over slightly on one day to just under 600ckals)and i cut out bad carbs this last week, no rice/pasta/spuds

Anyone else experienced this after week 3? Did anyone do anything different after a gain to help loose more the next week to get back on track

Im going to do the 5:2 coupled with 16:8 this next week to try boost my loss this week! im off on holiday to Thailand and although 2lb wont really be noticeable to anyone else..if i can get under the 12stone mark before I go ill just feel better

Thanks fasters :(

Don't be too disheartened Benbon - it can take your body a bit of time to get used to this WOE, or so I've been told! Have you been taking measurements as well?

I know I shouldnt, and I also know I had a pretty bad 3 day weekend this week and to have only put on 0.3LB is nothing in the overall picture, I also wouldnt mind if I wasnt off on Holiday in a weeks time as I know I can get back on track next week or the week after!

Not taken measurements, I really should do this but ill admit my clothes do not feel any looser at the momement!

But I will not let this put me off, just means im going to try even harder next week...:)

Thanks for the support, love this site... not like I can moan to the blokes sat around me at work that ive put on 0.3LB this week haha!!

If I were you I would probably just stick with what you're doing for a little longer before making changes. If you're still unhappy with what the scales are telling you, there are a lot of things you could throw into the mix: additional fast day (or half-fast), low carb, etc.

No need. 3/10ths of a pound is very little given that one's weight can easily vary as much as 3-4 pounds in a single day. Consider activating the Progress Tracker here. It contains a trend line that smooths out daily highs and lows to show you what is actually happening.

If you check out my progress tracker you can see a lot of ups and downs during my second month. Lately it was going down a lot but suddenly it's up again (although I am hoping today's fast will get me back to the low 70s I spotted earlier this week). There are a lot of factors that can change your weight. Make sure you measure yourself!

It took me a month before I started losing weight. I have to absolutely stick to my TDEE or I gain. You might want to monitor your intake carefully on other days. Don't lose heart, it will come off.

I suggest stick with 5:2 for a bit to get used to it and be scrupulous with your calories on fast days to get to understand the calories in food. Don't worry too much about the scales yet just weigh first thing in the nick on an empty bladder and before you consume anything. Chart it along with your measurements.

Check out the recipes here as well. Enjoy the journey. If you plateau that is time enough to up the ante as you don't want to call in famine effect too soon. All the best

Just do the best you can over the holiday period.

I was out with a goup yestterday and succumbed to a slice of cake.....I wish they wouldn't put the stuff out (We had just been for a short walk).

A bit of momentary weight gain is no problem. I'm plateaued at high 12s just now; sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less.

Maybe you can up the ante with a little more exercise? I'm starting to jog a bit on my walks.

I write down at the beginning of every month my measurements and weight and that way if I have gained a bit one week/day I don't get too disappointed because the trend appears to be downwards. It takes time to really get a good picture of what's happening with your body.....write things down, because then you can look back on how well you're doing and the odd blip isn't so bad!

Very small gain: nothing to worry about. You have to see this WOE in the long term. It's not a quick fix diet. It's a life change.

My weight fluctuates more than 2 kilos over a week, almost 3 kilos. I can't attach too much importance to any particular number. I just keep doing the fasting days, twice a week, have faith and since April, I've lost nearly 7 and a half kilos. I've gone from obese to over weight and eventually I will get to that magic healthy BMI.

This will probably happen for you. It's just too early to start worrying about 300 grams.

Thanks guys, really helped me put it in perspective.

Over all im still over 2 pound lighter than I was 3 weeks ago and that’s what I should concentrate on.

This next week im going to make sure I eat healthy on non fast days, do some extra exercise and maybe drink a little less :) and as Auriga suggested.... weigh and measure myself at the beginning of the month and then I can compare that to the next month :)

Thanks guys

Have a good weekend, good luck for those fasting, see u all on my fast day on Monday :)

Hi and welcome:

What you describe is no more than water weight, which can vary 2 or 3 pounds in a day or two. Here is what you might see going forward: 5-2-diet-chat-f6/topic6491.html

As for travel - I think I've found at least one answer: 5-2-diet-chat-f6/travel-and-5-2-t9079.html?hilit= travel

Good Luck!

If that's alcohol that maybe part of your query.

Take a look at the cals in booze (if you haven't already). Al EMPTY cals remember ;-)
