Size Medium? Moi?
13 Sep 2013, 10:37
Just took delivery of a new Boden jacket this morning and had ordered a medium, which I can't remember ever reaching for in a shop, but with the free returns offer I thought I had nothing to lose. When I took it out the box I thought 'Ugh - it's going to be tight' but amazingly it's not. Looks like I'm a size medium - and I've still got over a stone to lose. Funny how we need little things like this to help keep us going.

That's the nicest feeling isn't it? The other morning I accidentally pulled on my size 14 jeans which I'd forgotten to put in the charity bag and they were HUGE. You gotta love 5:2!

Its the best, isn't it ? 14 years ago I was heading in to work "dressed down", and remembered I was being taken out for lunch somewhere swanky, so nipped into Richard Shops (sadly no more) and bought a very cute little pencil skirt. It has been languishing in my wardrobe virtually ever since, and tbh I thought I'd never wear it again - not sure why it didn't go to the charity shop years ago. Yesterday, I needed something nice to wear for a lovely lunch out, and tried it on, with little hope, and it fitted beautifully, and looked pretty good. Soooo glad I kept it.

It is strange, and rather wonderful to feel like the old me.

I've been given a bag of clothes from a fellow 5:2 er who started smaller than me and has shrunk out of her starter clothes. She offered me the clothes and I am very, very pleasantly surprised that the only things I have had to put in my own 'lose a bit more weight' pile has been the size 18's and one very fitted size 20 blouse. I was expecting to be waiting ages yet before I fit into any of the offerings.

Well done, I too have reached the medium size, however my mind has not! I'm still thinking get the large, I do, it doesn't fit, I smile, then for some reason my mind says don't get the medium it won't fit, so I don't! Consequently I'm now hoisting my clothes up and in. I do hope my mind catches up soon cos I could be flashing more than I want soon!

ha ha! yes, Minsmum, I do know what you mean ... for me it stems from of a history so many disappointing trips to the changing room only to find that stuff didn't fit ... and now it's very hard to train the mind to realise otherwise. I'm also hanging onto to clothes that are too baggy, the jeans haven't fallen down yet but if I forget to wear a belt one day who knows!
