the cheek to make comment
17 Aug 2013, 22:35
Didnt know where to post this one.

Why is that when people are slightly or more underweight of someone else, they are deemed fragile and ready to shatter if hugged?
I do find it somewhat insulting and dont know how to comment.

I certainly dont say, gee I just can't get my arms around you so here only have a half hug.
Its never crossed my mind to make such comments.
I'm sure it wouldnt go down well, but its fine when they comment on they are too scared to hug you , that you might break.

I am not skinny by any standard, just not obese, not even slim

:hugleft:  :hugright: Here you are zamale a virtual hug for the one not freely given.

I was informed 2nd hand that it was 'thought' I had lost enough weight way back at my 12th fast. Mind you if they could see me now '46 fasts forward'.

People are funny when you are making a difference, some things they say are just silly

Dont you just love people opinions, not? They are forever forthright and will always be.

You come a long ways and have made great leaps in weightloss, woo hoo   and all since April. You deserve it to, no doubt.

Thanks for the virtual no judging hug, have one on me

Zamale, I know EXACTLY what you mean but the interesting thing is it only overweight people who feel the need to comment adversely on your weight loss so I just put it down to jealousy because they always want to know how you achieved this 'unacceptable' weight loss. "You are thin enough, don't lose any more weight" is deemed a polite thing to say to someone, so, how would they like it if you said, "You are fat enough, don't put on any more weight!"

My slim friends only ever tell me how well I look, there are never any judgemental comments from them. And yes, I also have had 2nd hand comments made to me, grrr!! :pissedoff:

I couldn't agree more these people make my blood boil !!!!
For me my circle of ''friends'' is split between those I meet up with regularly also my sisters and those comments have been brilliant and so supportive loving the way I now look with my new clothing   the others the so called experts are so quick to say either to your face + behind your back that you're false looks gaunt :geek: now really can you imagine me with a bmi over 44 looking gaunt truthfully I never ever lost enough weight to look in anyway closer to that.
And that's the reason I'm ''undercover'' don't tell these people I'm even trying to lose weight, I see them maybe every 4 to 6 weeks and my reduction in their eyes seemed slowissshh. My point is if I don't say, well they don't notice (FACT) and 2-3 stone later I can say I'm cutting down.
I've worked with lots of people like this and heard the comments they've made over the years about other people, behind the backs of course, such cowards & bitches. They don't matter to me at all no now !!!
My '' outlaws '' I only see every couple of months they have seen my weight go up + down so many times and at my 2 stone loss never actually noticed, they said I looked very well, I don't mind this because it was a compliment, next time we meet they will notice & comment and (because now you've got to have sight problems not to ) and they'll be very supportive and pleased for me to have found the Magic Key
as I'm in this for life and also enjoying every minute :clover: Sue:

Although I don't tell people I'm on a diet (only a few close friends and relatives know, I was afraid that with my thyroid problem I wouldn't lose a single kilo) every one has commented on my weight loss in a very exciting, encouraging and polite way. My friends and family are happy for me because they all know how shocking it was for me to gain so much weight for the first time in my life (I've had a thyroid problem before but only gained 3-4 kilos and that was it).
Thank God I probably don't have any frenemies, or I do and I don't even notice them, people around me are positive and we are all happy for each other when we achieve something. :-)

Oh zamale I know this probably isn't what you want to hear but I personally CANT WAIT to get down to a better weight and have people say that to me! I guess I may feel differently when I get there but it's such a long way to go for me that I can only day dream about people saying things like that! Lol xx

Hi Abbie,

Believe me, you will feel very differently when mean, fat, folk make snide remarks about something you have worked hard for and are proud of. I am also confident that you will get there so, when you do, enjoy those snipes

Recently had a close relative, when told I'd lost 25lbs, say "Oh, where from?"
