Thanks for that cool link @ADFnFuel! I am like someone from Honduras!
Thanks, everyone! Thanks for that interesting link! Yes, I admit that a BMI of 22.x is good and well within the acceptable range for health. But my vanity is kicking in a bit. ALSO--my doctor is the one who wants me to go down another 10 pounds. So I'll stay on this plan (5:2) for awhile and see how I get on.

I admit I did wonder if my body was holding on to the weight a little tighter as my weight drops.

Also--I wanted to let you all know that on a whim I measured my waist this morning, and it was down another 1/2 inch from last month (total loss = 1 1/2 inches)! So even though I gained two pounds in December, I still managed to shrink another 1/2 inch around my gut. I'd say that's success--AND PROGRESS.

Thanks again.
I think am one of the more glacial loser here but hey I feel cheered up now that I am not in the category of 66% Australian women around my age category who are heavier thanks to 5:2 and that I have shaved my BMI by 4 points. Was Botswana now Netherlands
Yes Melinda - that does seem to be how it works, weird but true. When I started this back in the spring, it was about 2 months before I lost any weight at all ... But my waist measurement went down about 2in in that time! And if your doc says you need to lose, I'd go with that too, if you trust their judgement. :like: :clover: :victory:
I've been thinking a bit about this.If we'd all been successful on calorie restricted diets then we wouldn't need 5:2 (even though by fasting for 2 to 3 days a week you are restricting calories on a weekly basis and it's been found we don't over compensate on our eating days), but despite this, I don't think that 5:2 works in the same way as calorie restricted diets so.... sticking slavishly to your TDEE on the days you don't fast might not be necessary: particularly when you hit a plateau or things slow down. It's the other benefits that 5:2 gives that seems to make the difference in the long run. And we're in it for the long run aren't we?
While in my protracted plateau stage things are still happening as mentioned by @SueQ I think and @Clairemarie if I recall rightly and I have noticed this myself that our loose skin tightens a bit. So I think it is good to consider the positives

So @Auriga thanks for agreeing it is not as simplistic as cutting calories. I think it is all rather fascinating we are all a fabulous work in progress learning as we go. And what's the rush!
My God I'm from Mexico! I don't get it I hate Mexican food.
