Happy Easter Everybody If you have read my previous post that I didn't know what a hot cross bun was I was surprised to see that the Easter Bunny brought me one. I hear many of you rave about them and I am about to try my first one. My husband got a baker here to make them as I have never seen them in our bakery (USA). I will keep you posted as to whether or not I like them. Feasting today and looking forward to fasting tomorrow. Have a lovely spring day everybody

That's awesome! What a great baker if he's happy to do custom orders like that Hot cross buns are lovely, though my faves are the ones which only have sultanas & raisins, no mixed peel (yuck!). Asda do the best ones IMHO - softest with nice spicing and a good amount of fruit and they seem to stay better for longer (if they don't get eaten right away that is ).
Enjoy your hot cross buns & let us know what you think of them!

Ah but which is best? Fresh with butter or toasted with butter?
I like them toasted (just like Tea cakes).
I like them toasted (just like Tea cakes).
Fresh, no butter Toasted with butter if they're a bit stale (like the Tesco ones we had this morning!)
What a lovely husband you have! I hope you enjoy your new experience!
I'm with Moogie although I like them with butter if fresh and squidgy, and with butter if toasted when slightly stale.

Amen sista!!!
I prefer the Marks and Spencer ones. I'll probably bake some a couple of days before our Easter. My parents like them so much that I could actually sell the buns to them. In a sky high price too!!! Is there an angel smilie around???
