Maybe I can record weekly, even if my compulsion means I weigh myself a little more often? Ha ha, I sound like a drug addict trying to negotiate terms and conditions at the rehab centre!

By the way, I love Aussies but I am not one! :)

I reckon get a hold of the MyFitnessPal app (which is free) - it's very handy for tracking calories on fast days, too. You can also use it online, rather than as a app.

Since it's such a compulsion for you, I reckon try weighing every other day for a while, and then ease back slowly. Don't go cold turkey! LOL

Installing the app right now, thanks!

Nanou this is a prime example of why I weigh once a week - I too have been indoctrinated re weighing - once a week or ur emotions can go all over the place. I weigh now on the day after a fast, first thing in the morning (u can be up to 2kg heavier @ night) after a good session in the bathroom ;>) and before even water touches my lips - how's that for OCD (or OC/DC as I like to call it:>). However I know that when I reach my goal weight, I may need to go a bit lower so that when I weigh after a non fast day. I got a bit carried away a couplre of weeks ago by all this talk of weighing more often - bad idea it was a bad result. I have lost every week for 8 weeks weighing on a Friday.

GMH this makes SO much sense. I too have an elaborate ritual of weighing myself in the morning, before water and after bathroom :)
But I do need to limit it to once a week. This is my new resolution!

I'm absolutely hacked off this week with my weigh in, I've been really good all week and then had a McDonalds on Saturday night - one burger one chips and yesterday morning I had put on a pound since last week!!!! Now I know that one McDonalds is not going to make me put on a pound after two fasts, but the feeling you get when you're standing on the scales is so utterly demoralising and baffling that you can't help but feel absolutely gutted.

I'm back on track today with a fast day, but damn it I hate the scales!

3 months into fasting & I find my weight fluctuates wildly but it is going down very slowly (I'm sure exercise would help if I'd just get going!). I've taken to weighing myself just once a week after my 2nd fast day & recording that. The gradual downward trend is a definite morale booster but also the thought of improvement in health indicators (cholesterol, blood pressure) is a great motivator for me.

After yesterday's fast I weighed in at 72.5kgs, though after the fast before I weighed 72.4kgs. The only thing I ate differently was an avacado, within the calorie allowance, but perhaps it's density made the difference? I won't have one next fast, just the tin of tuna and green salad and apple, and see if that helps.
A bit micro-managing I know, but interesting to see how it pans out innit!

I too weigh daily but use the True Weight app to record which produces a trend line. My weight tends to fluctuate quite a bit naturally some days showing a big gain but the trend line still shows going down, all be it slowly & that keeps me on track.

One of the nerds has written quite a bit about trend lines, have a look & give it a try if you are a serial weigher like me it makes a big difference psychologically.

I don't blame you for getting upset but please remeber that its too easy to get carried away by the numbers on the scales. How do you feel [appart from really stressed following the weigh-in]? Becaue if you feel well and have plenty on energy then you probably are well. And how about clothing? If that is still comfortable or getting looser then you're doing ok.
I haven't set foot on a set of scales for years so have no idea what my current weight is; I'm measuring my waist to hip ratio and tracking those figures in stead but this is something I only do once a week.
Chin up hun; we're all with you.x

I weigh daily. If I weighed once a week and it was the day it went up I'd have a melt down! I use a weight recorder with a trend line. It smooths out all the peaks and troughs so sometimes, usually after a carby day, my weight goes up but the trend will stay firmly pointing downwards and it stops the bathroom hissy fits! I only update my forum chart when I get a new low.

Thank you all s much for your support. It really made a big difference to my day yesterday, and kept me on track with my fast. It was a good fast because I was so determined, and now I am back on track.
Kencc, I find your view so interesting, and may try an app like that one too. I worry that once-a-week weigh-ins will make me anxious... I need to find the right thing for me. Weighing myself in the morning helps me keep my motivation up, and reminds me that I am on a mission! But I have also noticed that when I go on holiday and there are no scales - and better still, no mirror - I fell utterly liberated. Then I just have a big shock when I next step on the scales! My new thing is to have a fast day before I weigh myself after a holiday or heavy weekend, and that's what I didn't do this time: I stepped straight on the scales without fasting first to eliminate 3 days of naughtiness.

And how much salt was in that burger and fries? Probably was just water retention. Every woman should expect day to day fluctuations because we are prone to water retention .. a little hormone +3 lbs .. a little salt another half lb .. a little foggy weather .. +10 pounds. Doesn't matter, if you know you are staying with-in your TDEE, then don't stress, eat some celery or cucumbers or other natural diurectics and you'll back on target.

Our weight goes up and down all the time. That's why weighing every day isn't healthy. Especially if you are going to attach a lot of importance to it. Also it is a lot harder to lose weight if you are not over weight than if you are. It might take a while to lose those last kilos. Just keep doing the fasts and enjoy eating, without deprivation on the other days and the weight will go.
