Yep...appetite decreasing!
07 May 2013, 15:29
I have been on 4:3 and then ADF approx 1 month now - fasted yesterday with great ease. Saved calories up for evening meal, which I thought I would never be able to do - but somehow not eating at all til evening made it feel easier, less hunger etc.
Today - a normal feed day - I am stuffed after only eating moderate amounts of food. I also appear to be gravitating towards healthier food.
The best part of all ... No hang ups regarding food and the flexibility of it.
No stress = happy me :victory:

Can't say that I see this happening to me (and to be honest I'd like to be able to eat big amounts of food from time to time) but since it makes you happy WELL DONE!!!
It's so nice to see ourselves and our bodies changing the way we want them to! :-)

Me too, I was going to post exactly the same thing! fasted yesterday, had a couple of pieces of fruit mid morning today then a huge salad with a small piece of chicken and a couple of slices of home made bread for lunch and now I'm not hungry for dinner, but that's ok, I'm happy with that. Don't know if the lovely weather is making a difference

I'm utterly convinced that this is the real power of fasting - that it puts us in tune with what our bodies actually need rather than commercially driven cravings to overeat. Now if only it would work for me and my continued desire to over indulge in alcohol!!

Hi, yep this is absolutely true for me too although I am not avoiding sweet stuff yet. Today is a good example: I met the girls for breakfast this morning (today is a normal feed day) and after quite a large breakfast I did not even bother with lunch today! Even this evening I had half what I used to and to be honest I could have left that til much later - the urge to stuff myself silly just is not there anymore! :victory:

You're right redhead, I think I ate 'because' it was a mealtime, it has never occurred to me not to before. I am really enjoying choosing to eat only when I am hungry and there was me thinking I could never not eat for a day! I watch your 36er posts with interest and have just looked at your stats, you are so inspirational. I'm really not sure i could do that, oh, and as for the drink...... I find that because of this wol I am easily limiting my intake to weekends only :like:

I so agree that fasting exerts an influence on the kind of food you want and the quantity that fills you up. For me it has also curbed my alcohol intake. I would have wine most nights before 5.2 but I have drastically reduced my drinking now, something I have always found nigh impossible on other diets. I am still drinking, but now only 2 nights a week, and for me this is an even better result than the weightloss. I would love to know if others are experiencing the same? Redhead, I'm pretty sure you will find the same, it might just take a wee bit longer :?:

I never thought my appetite would decrease, but nearly 4 weeks in and I think its happening! I weighed some past for myself for dinner and had 135g and weighed just over 200g for hubby (which is what I would normally have and eat it all), well I started to get full about 3/4 of the way through and when I weighed it I thought that wont be enough but it clearly was and I am still satisfied!

Thanks Wendy Darling and dhana! Hopefully I will benefit from a decreasing 'booze appetite' over time! I've definitely increased my self control through 5:2 and water fasting. So glad to see other people enjoying success too!

Definitely agree, capacity for food intake has definitely been curbed. I don't seem to be able to consume as much food in one sitting than I used to. Learned that the hard way last weekend when I tried to consume my normal amounts of food I normally do at a favourite restaurant and felt physically ill from over indulging.

This is a most definite bonus as volume has always been an issue for me.

As for curbing if appetite and making healthier choices, I am not so clear about the linkage. I still have my normal cravings. Granted, I am only three weeks in, but I still get feelings of hunger and cravings for food. What has probably changed is that I am more in tune with these feelings and am starting to distinguish between actual hunger and cravings

The healthier choices may be more a psychological effect of being on a successful diet. More an attitude change that follows a lifestyle change rather than a direct effect if the diet?
