Delighted or Disappointed?

Hi.... I've been fasting now for 6 weeks (have done 13 fasts). I find it notoriously difficult to lose weight - I suppose I haven't got that much to lose - about 1/2 a stone to a stone would be nice.. I exercise a lot - ranging from running, going to the gym and to classes. I have a hectic social life (which is great) but which does revolve around food and drink. Since 2nd April I have been fasting for 2 days - I eat a healthy diet in between but can go a bit overboard at the weekend if got a full diary. I got weighed today for the first time since starting (as my weight fluctuates so much and the scales are so not my friend - so much so that I get disillusioned and give up - hence the monthly weigh in) and I have lost 3lbs.

Now whilst 3lbs off is good (better than the alternative!)- I am slightly disappointed that it isn't more (7 would have been nice!!)but I think it shows that it takes forever for me to lose. But I am a bit disappointed.

I drew up two columns: one + the other -

+ -
3lbs off Not as much off as would like
waist 1" smaller
Weight starts with a 10 and not 11
Not felt deprived
Clothes feel better
People say look slimmer

So all in all WHY do I feel disappointed?? Why does the number on the scales mean so much? Why can't I feel proud of what I have achieved .....WHY?
So when I post this under neither you will see what I mean ..... I WILL keep going as this is working more for me than anything else ever has --- BUT it would be nice to have the big losses, the miracle fix - the FAST in FAST to mean QUICK!

I am now going to have a glass of wine to reward myself/drown my sorrows ....back on it tomorrow as a fast day ... Keep you posted on next month. Over and out! x

Hi Beckie,

Gosh, you are difficult to please, just joking, but you are being rather harsh on yourself. That said I remember almost giving up when I had achieved nothing in twice as long as it has taken you to achieve great things so, don't despair, keep going, you WILL get there, honest. Believe me, I'm a thin person!

Good luck,

Ballerina x

Don't Panic, as the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy would say - there has been progress. Get Libra or similar and weigh every day - trends will become apparent, you will easily see when you have overdone things at the weekend etc and the general trend will give you comfort that all is going OK, without the long wait and semi-disappointment! Keep going - for us!
