Scales vs Me.... scales won
15 May 2013, 21:21
Today I having my 8th fast day so been 5:2 for 4 weeks now.

I have a confession to I was going to be anti scales and just measure me self due to self sabotaging in the past but while cleaning yesterday I found yet another set of scales  ( I could have swore I had threw them all out)
Long story short after heated discussion with myself I stood on them and discovered I've lost 6 kg so far :victory:
Even after a couple of carb heavy days it was a boost now the challenge for me to keep on track and not let the scale rule again.
And continue to work towards being a better healthier version of me by Christmas.

That's a great loss in 4 weeks, well done.

I'm on my 8th fast tomorrow, so we have started at around the same time  Here's hoping we will both be beautifully slim by Christmas

Thanks everyone and hopefully we will be fab by christmas fluffypillow
I'm so happy with the 6kg loss so far but have read enough of others experience's to know to I have to look longer term .
It will be interesting to see if I keep up this rate of loss or it slows and settles into a smaller steadier loss that has seem to happen to others, I do have quite a bit to go(approx. 54kg),so I think maybe I should set my next mini goal to loss enough to get my bmi under 40.

Ok so bathroom scales and I are still not best friend just take today
for example.
I was feeling good this morning and thought why not,so jumped on the scales and they said i'm 110kg that's another 4kgs from the other day
So now I don't know what to think, I don't think is possible even with my increase in activity to justify that sort of drop, so now I think the first weight in isn't correct either :?: and that my scales are just faulty.
Only one thing for it in the car of down to Target and bought new digital scales(never say never)got home and they say I'm 111.3kg
So even though I'm 4weeks into 5:2 I'm think maybe I should start again from today with my tracking my weight loss I just don't know how I could have possibly lost 8.7 kg in four weeks I know I have heaps to loss and it can be quicker at the start when you have a lot to loss
Any suggestions?

hmmmm. You could have lost that amazing amount if you have a lot to lose. If you are weighin gon the same scales, at the same time etc you have consistency as well, where as if you are jumping on different scales and at different time- well, get my drift. How are your clothes feeling? Have you measured anywhere? They are really good indicators to confirm what the numbers are saying.

I don't think it matters too much exactly what the scales say. At the end of the day you can't control the number on the scale you can only control your actions. As long as you are doing all the right things you will lose weight, and it sounds like you are.

I weigh myself every single day and I have no shame in that, I don't see it as a bad thing. If you're going to fight the 'battle of the bulge' you've got to know your enemy. There was a time when I didn't weigh myself every day and by the time I did op on a set of scales again I was a stone and a half heavier than I thought I was.

However the biggest up-side to weighing and logging that weight every day is that I see the fluctuations so clearly. It actually makes me more relaxed about the number on the scale because I know it fluctuates so much, so I never take any single days reading as too important.

So keep up the good work Tamz, maybe try weighing yourself every day to see the numbers change more gradually than seeing a big drop between a couple of weeks. Maybe it will work for you if you see the weight as it comes off bit by bit with all its natural ups and downs.

Tammz, you need to make sure you are weighing yourself at the same time each day and that the scales are in the same position - a small shift onto a slightly more uneven surface can play havoc with the accuracy. Try not to get hung up on individual numbers, track the trend, which should hopefully be downwards with maybe the odd blip.

I find it easiest to weigh myself in the bathroom, first thing in the morning without any clothes on after *ahem* divesting myself of waste products.

I think I'm going to try daily weigh in to see over next week ( same time and scales )to see if numbers stack up and what is actually going on.
I've done measurements have lost 4.5cm waist and 3.5 upper arms. My clothes are looser the only place ive really noticed in sleeves on shirt ,jumpers I general wear quite baggy clothes so it bit hard to tell.
Well if nothing else this should be an interesting week.

If you are going to be jumping on and off your new-found scales on a regular basis you need to look at recording your weight on an app like the Libra one that Caroline uses. It will show you a trend line that can keep going down even if you have the odd increase due to fluid etc. It helps to stop you sliding into panic mode if you get a blip.

I always put my scales on the same section of pattern on the bathroom floor as our floors are dreadfully uneven. I can weigh all sorts of odd weights depending where I get weighed!
