very slow start
16 May 2013, 13:17
I am new to the forum. I have a lot of weight (3-4stone) to lose and a very clear reason for doing it apart from the usual in that I have osteo arthritis in both my knees and in my spine so losing weight would really help me. I am now on my 8th fast ( so approaching the end of the fourth week) and I have lost only about 3lbs and even some of this appears to go back on sometimes. I am so disappointed. I can stick to the regime, but not without better results.

Hi FGS - welcome. Your disappointment sounds very reasonable, and almost all of us have been there in one way or another. You don't say - how often do you weigh yourself? If daily, you may want to cut that back to weekly, ideally the day after a fast so you're nice and light, relatively speaking. There are lots of resources in this forum that give some great suggestions on what to do if you're not losing weight, and reasons why it might be the case. Have a play around the site and I'm sure you'll find some very helpful hints.

Keep at it a little longer before deciding to throw in the towel - you've lost some already so you're definitely doing something right. It may not be quick but it will be much more sustainable.

Good luck, and let us know how you're getting on!
