Small lady, big results!
17 May 2013, 01:19
I am so happy with my new measurements!

I started with only 3 kilos to lose. People often ask me what the point is and tell me it won't make much difference. However, I am a 5'4", small-boned person, and 3 kilos are really visible. My taller friends can put on 3 kilos overnight and not notice. If I put on 3 kilos I can't get into my clothes. It's all about proportion!

I have only lost 1.8kg since I started 3 weeks ago (and that's the morning after a fast, so let's make it 1.5kg). It's not bad, but many would say it's not going to make much difference. Well, now look at the measurements:
Waist went from 78cm to 74cm
Tummy from 92cm to 87cm
Hips from 98cm to 93cm
Thighs from 58cm to 55cm

Who would have thought 1.5kg could mean 5cm off my waist and tummy!

I have now proven my point: when you're a small person, 3kg make a massive difference!

Yes Nanou I totally agree with you. Like you I'm "petite" so a couple of kilos can make a big difference. And when you're short it's easy for your waist measurement to equal more than half your height which puts you in the higher risk category for all kinds of medical issues. I'm 159cm, weigh 53-54kg (depending on the day) however, my body fat % is around 29% and I need to lose quite a few cm's off my waist to put me in the healthy category. Looks can be deceiving. On the other hand, my thighs are looking great!!!
Well done on your efforts so far :)

Well done Nanou! I get really upset when people can't respect the fact that that's what YOU want, not what they think will be good for you. And I'm sure you feel a 3kg difference in your clothes already with those measurements

I couldn't agree more, I think we all know what shape we need to be in order to feel comfortable. All my kilos tend to go into my middle and I feel so bloated and sluggish. I get increased back pain from a mere 3 or 4kg increase. I am feeling so much better minus the 1.5kg and can't wait to lose the other 1.5!

I'm in the same boat: 152 cm tall (there's an oxymoron!) and hoping that this WOE will help me to permanently shift the 1-2 kilos that come back on as soon as I stop dieting. No one else notices them, but they make waistbands tight and increase my clothing size, making me feel lumpy and awkward :curse:

I'm coming to the end of my third week now. I lost 1 kg in my second week and fear nothing will have changed when I weigh in tomorrow, despite being on 4:3 for two weeks. However, the reasonable part of me knows that this should be a long-term project and I shouldn't expect a quick fix ...
