So happy at weigh in today! I am now below 11 stones for the first time in years. Yay!

I have also reached my initial target waist size (a loss of five inches), although my BMI is still in the overweight band so still have weight to lose. I find it very interesting that I seem to have lost so much from my waist even though I carry my excess weight all over and am an hourglass shape and not an apple. To me this supports the idea that this WOE is good for your health as well as weight.
Very well done :)

i'm an hourglass too and lost my weight first from my waist. My waist has stayed steady for a while now and I'm beginning to lose inches from the rest of my body.
YAY! Well done you. That is good news and such a good feeling!
Weighing in stones gives you a lovely feeling when you hit the next lowest!
That's a great loss from you waist too.
Congratulations :victory:
Fantastic Windsinger, can well understand that you're pleased!
Congratulations - that's wonderful - you must feel fantastic
Congratulations - it's great to hear from yet another person that they have lost a lot off their waist - I hope to emulate you! :victory:
That's great news. Congratulations on your double loss.
Well done !! Does anyone measure round the tummy (belly button) I seem to have lost more here than around the waist...?? Or is this where we should be measuring?
Well done you, that's totally excellent :)

I'm almost the same as you (just gone below 11 st & lost a not dissimilar weight) but spookily my waist measurement hasn't changed !

(Edit that - I've just checked & it's gone down by 5cm  )
Thanks for all the lovely supportive messages! This forum really spurs me on.

Mrsrae - I measure my waist as being the narrowest part of my body, which is a couple of inches above my belly button. I have also been measuring my hips, and whilst I have lost five inches off my waist (down to 30), my hips have only gone down one inch to 39. Most of the waist loss happened in the first few weeks rather than in line with my overall weight loss.
 Wow that is good. I have lost an inch and half from the waist but four and half from the tummy area ( which badly needed it) and about an inch from hips...I just know the waist ratio is important for the health benefits...
Fantastic waist loss! I am finding it very slow to go from my waist, but my belly is much flatter than when I started. Do you do any particular exercises for your tummy area and is your new waist toned? I am very happy with my weight loss so far but my goal of reducing my height waist ratio still seems elusive :?:
Well done. This is great. I know this myself. I am really happy that you celebrate this with us. This journey is best shared, so thank you.
Hi Dhana

I am naturally averse to exercise which is one of the reasons why this WOE is so good for a lazybones like me. I haven't been doing anything specific to explain the significant loss from my waist. The only thing I can think of is that it may be due to my age. I always carried excess weight all over, so I was always heavier than people would have guessed. In the last couple of years I gained another extra stone and I'm sure most of it went straight to my waist, which I think is because I am now 50. So maybe for me the first fat to go was that gained most recently?
