I started the Fast Diet 16 weeks ago. Put on a few pounds over the winter and felt uncomfortable. Saw the original broadcast of Michael's programme and tried to do the diet on my own. Gave up after 3 weeks as bored with salads and did the fasting on consecutive days.
So when the book came along I gave it another go.
My first fast day was Monday 28 January this year. I fast Mondays & Wednesdays. I've only given up on 1 fast day. I started by having breakfast & lunch. Now I have breakfast, apple for lunch and then a dinner.
I also gave up as much refined sugar as possible during Lent. I used to eat chocolate every day. Now I can go all week without it. I prefer cheese instead now.
And I am also on the Jillian Michael's Body Revolution exercise program.
I ate healthily before the diet but I was concerned about the amount of body fat I had - mainly because most of it seems to be on my tummy.
I use Salter MaxView scales. They appear to be a bit erratic so I take an average of 3 "weigh ins" 1 after the other.
Anyway today I am delighted after 16 weeks my body fat has gone down from 33.83% to 27.7% - 6.13%age points. This also means I've lost 18% of the body fat I used to have before I started the diet.
My weight loss has been less than 1lb a week - reached 1 stone this week, but I don't have a lot to lose anyway. I was 10st 5lb when I started.
I've lost about an inch from around my belly button, but as this is where most of the fat appears to be I expect it will be the last place I see the difference.
It is the body fat loss that has really impressed me.
