Delighted or Disappointed?

I have now completed 6 weeks and after successful weeks at the start my weight has stayed pretty much the same and even increased slightly this week. It is that time of the month but still!

I have added in a lot more exercise into the mix so I am assuming this is what is decreasing my fat % but keeping my weight steady. Has anyone else experienced this? I am hoping that once my body adjusts to the increased exercise my scales number will start to move down again.

I am trying to stay on track and hope that things will change soon.
Have you measured yourself at all? Some people find that their measurements seem to decrease before their weight does I think :) Are your clothes feeling looser?
Do you count calories or know what your TDEE is? A loss is a loss but perhaps if you look a bit closer at these it might give you some more clues as to how you can shake things up. Keep up the good work, slow and steady wins the race ... ?!!
Since your body fat% is decreasing and you know you've upped the exercise, I say just keep doing what you are doing as long as you are eating sensibly on normal days. This may be called "fast diet" but it really is a slow pace. lol
Betsy I think you are right. I think we pay too much attention to the one weight number. I know that but somehow it doesn't stop me doing it too.

I think seeing me BMI number also freaks me out as due to my muscle mass I doubt I will ever have a normal BMI.

I had another fast day today and (mentally at least) I feel back on track. Here's hoping the scales are kind to me tomorrow.
How often do you weigh? And agree, measurements sometimes more important. Good luck
I weigh ever day as this way I can the real trend rather that just one day per week. My scales have fat %, muscle, hydration etc.
It's not weigh in day so I can't update my tracker but I am now down 3.3 kilos so hopefully I can hold onto some of that loss. Even better My fat % was almost 2% higher last time I was this weight (a couple of weeks ago) so obviously my composition is changing.

Today my husband said I look longer and that my top was fitting differently.

Thankyou for letting me whinge when I lost faith. I am back on track (and back to the gym tonight)
I am now 3.3 kilos down. It has really reminded me that if I can hold on through the tough times success may be just around the corner. One gym session and 6 kms of walking since last reporting in. The focus and motivation is back!
If your muscles are making your weight, and consequently the BMI, a lousy indicator, then perhaps the number to focus on is the body fat percentage, given that you can actually measure that, and weight and BMI indicators are really only used as easily-measured proxies for body fat anyway.
Way to go, Strogerfaster, :victory:

You have figured out how to look at the big picture, get support from this forum when you need it, and get back on track.

The skills we are learning here (and at the gym  are what will keep us from falling back (as almost everyone does when they lose weight).
