Well done. Gives others inspiration, especially us newbies.

Congrats 5:24evr - It really is a great feeling to see things starting to fit! It's fun to shop in your own closet and reacquaint yourself w/all your old (clothes) friends :-)
Well done! Isn't it just a great feeling in the dark side of the closet? Like you all, feeling fit and buoyed up.
Have taken big bras to the charity box at the gym; huge trousers to charity shop; busy taking in my collection of linen trousers (2'' each side),which were far too tight last year! I don't want to buy new clothes till autumn which will come all too soon! That will be such fun.
Enjoying the many long forgotten clothes which now fit. (Loose tops, and found one beautiful long shift, worn to a party last week, now trailing round my ankes as it doesn't hitch up on my hips! And it swivels round on me - wow!) there is no way back as stocks of big clothes are not there "in case I put on." That's not a possibility any more. :victory:
Fab Katharina. How do you take the linene trousers in ? Do you take the waist band off first, or just take in the side seam and band all the way down?
Minumonline, I decided to do a thorough job and unpicked at the side waistbands (watching telly) which was hard work but once done I could see how to get it back. (careful to pin and hold the elastic in the waistband )
Then pinned sides from the waist to fit all the way to the bottom of the leg. It was so good to be taking it in from the back( bum!) material of the trousers and easier. There is now a taken-in fold of fabric which I may cut and edge, or just iron flat, but the original smart top- stitched side seam is still there with the new tuck sewing right up against it !!!!
Pulled the back-elastic tighter, and sewed it all back. The next trousers were easier. M&S is so well stitched I had to take care not to cut into any fabric with the quick-unpick gadget.
I hope this makes some sense . Good luck! Pity we can't get together to do this.
Brilliant. Don't fall out into Narnia! Lovely to hear all about the altering gong on. We took a prom dress to be altered yesterday and there was a girl there having an ordinary pair of chain store jeans altered because the waistband was big at the back (mine do that sometimes. Hollow back?) it is really inexpensive and she must go there a lot as she was on first name terms with everyone. Anyway, it got me thinking that I must tell you all about this revelation. If you have anything that you love but is now too big....... get it altered

I am currently wearing a favourite old pair of chinos that I haven't worn for years and rescued a pair of cropped jeans that I love from the recycling bag in the garage. I was sad because I thought they had gone. No standing muffin top. Bit of a sitting one but hey.......
I have a ted baker dress that I have never worn but just brought as I loved the material, when I put it on and it fitted it didn't look very nice but the material is gorgeous. I am hoping to get to my target weight and then take it to a dress maker and change the style a bit as well as the size. Just have to wait and see but I'm hopeful that my plan will work
Thanks Katharina - thats really clear. I'll summon up some courage and have a go!

Ooo a slimmers alteration afternoon - what fun that would be (maybe on a feed day to allow for cake...)
I can officially say that I fit all the clothes on the dark side of the closet. I started this thread Jun 7 when I first had the courage to challenge the dark side and had a few small victories.

Tonight I decided to go for the cute US 6 summer dress that I previously ripped trying to cram my larger bulk into it and...it fits! Too bad I have no shoes for it.....

I LOVE 5:2!!!
Yeah thats brilliant 5.24evr!

i bet you are pleased no end, well done, feels sooooo good when clothes fit again......nothing quite compares!

now go get some shoes, you deserve them!!!!!! ( a girl ALWAYS deserves shoes ;-)
