I have been on 5:2 since Feb, and have had a good loss of weight, inches and felt so much better. I have even had some significant weekends away and returned to the plan with no problem. Last weekend away this OH and this week has been a nightmare...I only managed Monday as a fast day and have continued to eat and drink wine like there is no tomorrow!! This cannot continue......

Everybody is entitled to a little blow-out once in a while, that's life. Ok so when is your next planned fast? Monday? If the wine is finished DON'T open another and start chilling down this weekend to get prepared for Mondays fast. It's just a matter of picking yourself up, dusting off and getting back to it.
I'm sure there will be others along to help with more encouraging words.

Support and being honest are two huge steps forward. It is obvious to me as a newcomer that you have done really well and are also motivated to do well again! You can do this. I agree, Monday sounds like a good day for a fast!
Mrsrae, I've had your week! Haven't been able to fast, lots of things to deal with at work, not many resolved and what did I turn to? The fridge and the food cupboard! So giving myself a strong talking to, out tomorrow with my family but then Sensible Sunday, Meagre Monday (planning a 36 hour liquid fast)', Thin Thursday which should lead to aFantastic Friday weigh in. That's the plan. Good luck with your week and let's get back to it. We can do it!
A few weeks ago (6 to be precise) I had my first failed fast. My aunt was very ill and she wasn't going to make it and I was just unable to concentrate on anything, especially fasting, since all I wanted to do was just drink myself to oblivion.
To cut the long story short, my aunt died on the next day and for a week I just couldn't fast, sleep, work... anything. During that week I was eating all sorts of crap and drinking all sorts of crap and yet I just maintained.
If you think that you will fail, just don't don't begin to do it. If you need time, take it. One week won't do much difference in your overall progress which already is magnificent!

don't sweat it...I've had a few weeks where I haven't fasted at all during my now 7 months on 5:2. You can always make up for it at a later time, or just pretend it didn't happen a start back up again. You have to look at the long term and realize there will be bumps along the way.
Sound's like my weekends, week days are no problem but come the week end I completely sabotage myself with wine. I know if I didn't do that my weight loss would be brilliant but as I do I just go up and down 2lbs then all of a sudden I'm 2lb lighter and going up and down in the new weight. Don't worry this is a way of life and by christmas you will be where you want to be and still of enjoyed your wine
Hi mrsrae You have done so well and you will jump back on board as soon as you can (maybe tomorrow)
I was going to fast today as I'm out sat night for family meal.
Had nothing to eat at all then at 11am went food shopping kind of hungry but when I was putting it away had lunch (don't usually eat till evening)
Next meal went wrong and ended up eating CHIPS of all things
Now truly feel quite sickly.
Had more than 500cals But well within my TDEE
So tomorrow I compromise by not eating at all until evening meal out some wine involved and still under my allowance of course I will fit proper fast day Mon+Thurs (I'm doing 4:3) but works for me.
So don't beat yourself up about put it behind you enjoy your evening and wake-up tomorrow with the same determination you have shown all along your journey Sue

There is always next week to find your way again
I've been the same over the last couple of weeks. But only put on 1lb, could have been a lot worse. Just been so busy with uni work, but I'll start again on Monday. The runs are going to kill me after two weeks rest, but best to get back into it ASAP! Good luck everyone.
Have you got regular fast days, same as Queen56 I find Monday and Thursday are good days, leaves w/e free if you want.
As to the wine spritzers are a great way to reduce volume of wine consumed. In a large wine glass 50 -100 mls of wine top the glass with good quality sparkling mineral water and a squeeze of fresh lime along with dropping the slice into the spritzer. Sit back relax and sip. Its adulterating expensive wine but for a regular wine you get to have nice long drink. Some days you will opt for mineral water with lime

Don't beat yourself up.... I think the beauty of this WoE is that you can slip up a bit but then get right back on it. You had one fast day this week - brilliant! Have two next - or three if you feel you need a bit of a push? I am only 3 weeks in so it's all very novel for me at the moment and I am sure I am going to have extremely tough weeks (am away for a few days the week after next so who knows what will happen!) but you have done brilliantly so far - and you will again. Be kind to yourself x
By the way - Gillymary's tip for spritzers is great - I don't drink wine any other way now... lasts longer and really refreshing. Also have you tried the lower alcohol ones (around 5.5 to 9% alcohol) - some are really good now (topped up with soda or mineral water who can tell?) and the lower the alcohol, the lower the calorie content.

Like others have said; don't beat yourself up. Just like one good day won't make you skinny, one bad day won't make you bigger.
Just go back to it the next day with a fresh start
