Delighted or Disappointed?

5 posts Page 1 of 1
Yesterday I had a really good fast, ate nothing until 5pm .weighed myself just before dinner and like what I saw
Then had a healthy dinner of veg, quinoa and cottage cheese .low ft yogurt
And this morning I am up .weigh more than I have for weeks
What Is going on?
I am so afraid all the hard earned weight is coming back
Should I fast again, eat normally, try just protein today
In the past I have often lost these few kilos only to find they creep back even when I am sticking to the diet.
Help.please!
Sarahg, how much fluid did you have? Remember that fluid and solids have weight too, I doubt you gained any fat.

1/2 a liter of water weighs 1/2 a kilo
It sounds like you gained weight after having a healthy dinner, not in your sleep.

Your body weight can go up or down 2 or 3 pounds every day. If you must weight often, get one of those trend line makers to track the trend, and live with the daily ups and downs. Otherwise, weigh less often (like monthly).

You cannot judge the 5:2 WOE, or any slow weight loss diet, by daily or even weekly weigh ins. Daily water retention fluctuations, up or down, can mask the fat weight loss that may be happening.
@Sarahg It's only one day- don't panic! Ignore the scales and carry on...
I had a prawn stir fry to end my fast yesterday. MFP said it was way over recommended daily sodium, so I guess I'm retaining water today. Hopefully it will go, and so will yours... Lots of people find that they are lighter two days after a fast. Good luck :clover:
Hi Sarahg,

Don't panic, you put food into yourself, after weighing, which was still there in the morning, albeit in a slightly different form, but, still in your system. I bet if you had weighed yourself AFTER eating your dinner you would have been shocked, it will all resolve itself over the next 36 hours or so, honest. The other thing of course is that you were so hungry in the night that you ate a pillow or two in your sleep, have you done a pillow count? Sometimes when I wake in the morning and look across at hubs I'd swear he's eaten a few pillows in the night. Pillows are NOT anti night starvation kits!
