Have I fasted or not?
27 Jun 2013, 00:45
Hi
Wednesday was my fast day , so excited that my weight loss was 4 lbs , already to stay busy made a batch of ratatouille , ready for my evening meal. All was well to 4 pm, when I had a call to go to local hospital as my husband had a fall while playing rounders with his students! After 5 1/2 hrs returned home with husbands foot bandaged like a mummy, to gruesome to tell all, except at 7 pm I ate a packet of crisps! Broke my fast with fat, how could I? 168 cals then I had a few chips from my husbands burger meal, counted up to be 125cals , got home sorted husband out and our 3 dogs and sat and ate ratatouille , so I know I kept within limit, but don't feel like it, why? It's now 1:35a.m and I've had a bowl of porridge! Nearly went for buttered toast, and I mean buttered! Would anyone class this as a non fast day and I need to get another in before my Monday fast ? So want to get rid of my guilty feelings of eating fatty carbs and not waiting till I got home to have my planned meal. Don't like how I'm feeling as in the past I would be eating the entire contents of cupboard and the cupboard! The trip to hospital was very stressful and I understand why I ate crisps even though I wasn't hungry. Sorry I am going on just feel I've let myself down.

Chris don't beat yourself up! You have had a stressful day and even with all that you still did a fast (maybe not the best food choices, lol). If it will take away some of your guilt, do a half-fast before Monday's scheduled fast. Or just skip a couple of breakfasts or lunches and you'll be back on track. :)

Thanks for that, still up and wide awake but staying out of the kitchen! Easy for me to miss breakfast, as it makes me hungrier, so will do that and get back on track.

Hi Chris crock, hope things have calmed down for you. Amazing how stress can sabotage us. I have had a few fast days that ended up like yours. Beauty of 5 2 is flexibility. Start again another day. You might lose a lot in the first couple of weeks but after that it slows down. Your in it for the long haul so be patient with yourself. If you stick to it you will see progress every week.

I agree. This WOE isn't supposed to be about guilt. It sounds like you didn't go much over anyway...

I hope your husband is ok!

Sounds like quite a day! :dazed:

Don't worry about it (your 5:2 day). Just continue on whatever schedule you have set. Don't try to fit an extra fast day in if it is a bother.

One secret to 5:2 is it is a way of eating, not a weight loss diet with an ending date (whenever you get to whatever weight you want). You can keep doing 5:2 or a variation for the rest of your life. So you have plenty of time.

I can't tell when you started 5:2, but if it was recently my advice is focus on 500 cal. or less on your fast days, period. Don't stress over what foods make up those 500 cal. Over time, that will kind of sort itself out without your even trying hard (it is almost magic). If you have questions about how long a fast day is, check out the 5:2 Diet FAQ on the top of this page. :clover:

as long as youre 500 calories or under or even slightly over, then I think thats fine, there's no wrong or right what to eat as far as I can tell, hope your hubbie recovers well and quickly

I'm with simcoeluv...count it as a fast day and continue on with your schedule as planned. My thinking is that a fast day is "better done than perfect". No one fast day or feed day is going to make or break this WoE. Come as close as you can to your "ideal" fast day, take note of where you went wrong so you can do better on future fasts, and mark the day as done on your calendar.

Hope your husband gets better soon!

Thank you all for your kind thoughts, feeling more positive this morning. Husband full of pain relief which appears to be working, hiding his disappointment that he's unable to dive next Wednesday in Malta with his 18 students, now he'll have to watch from the sidelines.so both of us hopping about!( fractured my foot 2 weeks ago)
