Delighted or Disappointed?

9 posts Page 1 of 1
Today has been a sad day. I went out to the pub this evening. I ordered a burger topped with pulled pork - feast day so no guilt.

I couldn't finish it :victory:

5:2 has changed the way I eat, without me having to sit in the pub telling myself 'a thin person would stop eating this now because they were full'

I can't believe that is is where I was heading towards 10 weeks ago, I thought I was trying to lose weight by staring 5:2. I never thought it could change my appetite or my conditioning to clear my plate.

If you are thinking about trying 5:2, or struggling with it, please make sure you stick at it for about 3 months. IMHO, it doesn't really kick in before then.

Nice one!
I can relate to that. Its taken me a while to reach that point. I read posts from others who seemed to get it right from the first week but I could still pack away the calories if they were naughty enough! I stuck with the fasting but didn't really get the appetite/taste changes until quite recently. Now its much easier to pass when hubby offers his crisp packet round and I can recognise when I've had enough even if it means leaving food on my plate. Its worth giving it a thoroughly good chance.
That happens to me with a much craved for fish & chips. Had to post at the time as I nearly cried...

It felt really bad to leave food, I think helped to post here. Only after that, I realised that this was the way I was losing weight.

It's still messing with my head a bit, but I'm going to go with the flow and let the scales do the talking

Edited for typo
Me too! I feel like it's just starting to "kick in" here on my 13th week! Thanks for the post Effie.

What I think is perhaps I was healing other things... or that water was holding space in case it was needed.... or both!
DITTO! It really does go against the grain to leave food on my plate - I was brought up to eat up - think of the starving children in Africa who have no food and would love your dinner. The number of times I wanted to send them my dinner! It's no wonder a lot of us couldn't/can't recognise the "I'm Full Signal" from the brain, we were basically trained as children to ignore it. I have amazed myself quite a few times recently when I've stopped eating (even dessert) on feast days because I've realised that I'm feeling full - there's hope for us all if we persevere wit 5:2! :victory:
Yes I can totally agree with you! Although it has taken me a wee bit longer to reach that feeling - four months for me....& during those months my weight plateaued for the best part of 6 weeks but I persevered as I enjoy waking up the day after fast feeling thin even when the scales didn't budge! Last week for the first time, I decided to 'shock' my body by not fasting 5:2 twice weekly, but I tried 16/8 over 5 days & ta dah! Off my plateau finally with a little loss & I'm doing it again this week & I've lost another lb half way through. The last 2 weeks I'd say that I've really recognised how much my appetite has shrunk & how quick I get that 'I'm full' feeling. And...........I can't believe my dinner plates seem so big now!! I never thought I would ever think & feel like this ......... So, I say.........if you're thinking about trying the 5:2 - go for it, persevere even if you do hit a plateau........and your perseverance will pay off! :0)
