my secret weapon 'Hairy Lemon'
05 Jul 2013, 01:55
I thought I should share my secret weapon against the mid day slump on fast days. Here in Australia you can buy something called 'Hairy Lemon'. It is a fizzy tablet which you add to a glass of water. Another product is called Berocca and seems to be used for hangovers? Anyway Hairy Lemon has Guarana and ginseng plus caffeine (I think) and as far as I know, NO CALORIES! I don't love the taste but boy it really helps at about 3pm on a fast day.
Just a quick note of caution that applies to both "Hairy Lemon" and "Berocca". Both these supplements contain B vitamins which if taken late in the day may cause sleeplessness or restless sleep. As some fasters may have trouble falling asleep on fast days I thought it maybe wise just to give you a heads up.
interesting TheFrog! I guess that is at least one of the reason it perks me up. I have only ever taken it in the afternoon and yes intuitively wouldn't want one at night. Good insight!

me too

I have tried hairy lemon but have found myself to be unsettled  I don't know if that is totally the right word for it in the afternoon at work and have found a cup of green tea at lunch time works just as well as a pick me up for the afternoon without the unsettled feelings.
I know co workers who also swear by it at lunch time and they aren't even fasting (that I know of) so its definitely work a try.
