Pleased!
14 Jul 2013, 09:11
Am pleased this morning as I've lost the 1lb gained last week, and MUCH more exciting I've lost another half inch off the waist - so now 4.5 in total, only another 1.5in to go before I hit my first mini target, and my waist will be half my height :victory:

I wouldn't have persisted without all the knowledge, sharing and support on here, especially from those who have hit plateaux or gained. So if you're reading this and haven't had the results you want yet, KEEP GOING!! :clover: :like:

Will have to watch it this week though, as several meals out and going to a book festival
(no not eating the books! ...
just lots of tempting ice cream - and Betty's tea rooms ...   )

Congratulations! How wonderful :)

Betty's is my all time favourite place to eat! Was there in York with my best friend last year and can still taste the cake!!! Enjoy :)

Well done, Silverdarling. Like you I won't have kept going if wasn't for everyone on the forum.

Well done Silverdarling! :victory: It's great to lose inches as well as pounds. I was looking at my legs this week - they have never been my best feature but they are definitely much slimmer now. I wish that I had measured my thighs and calves when I started this WOE and I would encourage all newbies to do so.

I haven't heard of Betty's tearooms but sounds like my sort of thing yum

Many thanks for your comments everybody! Very much appreciated, after all it's a sort of collective journey we're all on :clover:

Bettys tearooms are a Yorkshire institution - see the link here (but not on a fast day  )

http://www.bettys.co.uk/branchlanding.aspx

It goes without saying the cakes and afternoon tea are to die for (and I know they would be appreciated by 5:2ers on 'way hey' days!). If you're ever in Harrogate, York, Northallerton, Ilkley or Harlow Carr RHS gardens, well worth a visit!)

And they do mail order  all over the world

There ... Probably responsible now for several of you gaining a couple of pounds at some future date

Thanks for the link Silverdarling. My sister lives in Pocklington in Yorkshire so I will plan a visit to Betty's York branch next time I am there

... Remember to 'prepare' with a couple of fast days before
It will be worth it though!

Yum! Now I really must NOT click the link for mail order! (Fat rascals sound weird, but they taste devine! And their mushrooms on toast on a frozen winter afternoon are to die for!!)

Well done silverdarling - great news about lost inches. I too am trying to aim for 50% as next mini target - actually scrap that - new target is to lose 4lbs I've gained in the last two weeks holiday then 50%.
Just logged on today after 2 weeks absence - 1 week hol in Portugal & 1 week holiday/sick leave due to hurting back (again) in Portugal
It was painful updating my progress tracker - I have put on 4lbs :frown: which isn't that bad I suppose :?:
Hope to be back on track later this week or next week depending on how my back behaves
(find it too hard to fast when my chronic pain flares up)

Good luck with 50% - think you'll do it before me - my waist measurements haven't really changed in weeks - think I was too enthusiastic early on with the pulling tight the tape measure

I can relate to the chronic pain Scotty. I don't take the anti-inflammatories on a fast day morning as I've been having tummy problems with them. But I take one as soon as I eat at fast day dinner.
I haven't found it too hard on fast days when I flare up, the pain is too bad to think of food, I would probably be sick if I tried. In fact thinking on it, I have had a few days where the pain has stopped me eating so could be classed as extra fast days.
I must go to put the headphones on as the ice cream van has just driven up the road. Its a fast day, obviously. Though the two cones of 'salted peanut' icecream I had yesterday were utterly divine. Yes I did say 'salted peanut' flavour, I was at a food festival and had a taste at the ice cream stall, it was like a taste explosion in my mouth.

Good luck Scotty and Julieathome - it must be difficult when you have to factor in pain management into the equation as well, but keep on going, you'll both get there - look how much you've both lost already :victory: :like: :clover:

Doodle - I know just what you mean about Fat Rascals, and mushrooms on toast ... there's also the Yorkshire rarebits ...

Mmm Betty's in Northallerton is the best IMHO, but the York building is beautiful. Well worth a trip to any of them. If anyone fancies staying in North Yorks, an old friend runs a lovely B&B in Richmond, just look up 'Cordilleras House'.

My daughter is a big Evelyn Waugh fan, and so we have promised her a trip to Castle Howard for a bit of a Brideshead Revisited pilgrimage, with a treat at Betty's too of course! Betty's is old fashioned, but in a good way. Just fantastic food, and really lovely staff.

Honeybee - just had a look at Cordilleras House - it looks wonderful and fantastic reviews on tripadvisor too! Will just have to put it on my list of places to try ...

I like the Northallerton branch of Bettys as well - but the York building is lovely, especially all that panelling downstairs. It is old fashioned style of service too, which you don't often get these days - but they have upgraded the facilities over the years, without losing that essential Bettys ambience.

Perhaps we ought to have a 5:2ers meet up there ...
