Just returned from the grocery store and put into the basket items that weighed a total of 14lbs (approx 6kg) - shop assistant wondered what was going on as I used the scales for weighing fruit + veg and kept going back until I had the correct amount.

Then I tried to pick up the basket - very heavy = that's the total amount I have lost on 5:2.

So, even if you weigh yourself and have lost eg 2lbs /1kg and pick up the food item you can actually feel how much it weighs. A great incentive!

I want to do this when I have lost all my weight, with a pile of lard next to me. Whenever I falter I go to the supermarket and count out my lost weight in lard packets. I'm getting really weird looks these days as the shelves don't have enough anymore, I don't know how I'm going to do it for the full 10 stone weight loss when I get there, make it a publicity stunt I guess.
But what I'm saying is, stand a pile of lard in front of you that weighs what you have lost. Then imagine all that fat smeared all over your body in a thick even layer. Now that is incentive.

I'm just ignoring the scales just now as I'm so boated with the heat. Its the first time since I started to lose weight that my legs have swollen.

When I first got stuck on this persistant plateau I weighed a bag of cat litter and worked out that I'd actually lost two of them ( not all on 5:2). Now given that I struggle to actually lift a full bag and tend to drag it across the bathroom floor to fill the tray I was quite shocked to think that I'd been carting two round on a regular basis!

I know a lady who kept a large bag in the garden and every week when she weighed in she would select a large stone of the appropriate weight and add it to the bag! When she was struggling she would go out and try to lift the bag!

Have to say it would be very sad if you gave up just yet. Lets face it is an effort for us all to do this. For me it is the best formula I have ever found. Being able to eat in a regular way is sustaining. I do hope you find what works for you as it must be frustrating. Thanks for the thread as well as am sure it is helpful generally for anyone stuck on a plateau

I've lost almost 3 of the BIG bags of catfood we buy. Well, somewhere between 2.5 and 3. Glad I don't have to walk around carrying that anymore. That reminds me of that Biggest Loser challenge they always do at the end where they hike up a hill and pick up the amount of weight they lost each week as they go. It does help to think of it that way!
