Delighted or Disappointed?

The title says it all really - although it should read "four months (nearly) to lose four kilos (nearly).

I started on 5:2 back at the end of March, mainly for the health benefits. But there was also the small matter of the annoying muffin-top over my uncomfortably-tight jeans. I'm far too stingy to buy new ones (Scottish genes from my mother!) so decided if I lost a bit of weight with this way of eating, that would be a bonus - and better for my wallet.

Goal weight achieved this morning! It's been a long haul and it's nowhere near as much as those of you who are losing incredible amounts, nor anything near a pound (half a kilo) a week. But hey, it was MY little goal and I did it and I'm so happy

Now, off to celebrate with a bacon sandwich for brunch. Clearly it's not a fast day..
:like:
That's great, Tara! It seems that weight loss is slower for people in the healthy BMI range. It's good to know it's possible if you stick with it.
Congrats Tara! I too am having a slow weight loss; however, my doctors say that's a very good thing - you are more likely to keep it off! Enjoy those old jeans - I'm still working into my pair... Maybe before the summer is up...I hope...
Fantastic news Tara! Well done! Any goal achieved is well done indeed! :like: :star: :)
Thanks everyone. Now I have to think about how to maintain. Whether to do 6:1, or to stick to 5:2 and just have more chocolate, triple brie and merlot on non-fast days. Decisions, decisions ...
Well done Tara - slow and steady wins the race obviously!

To maintain, you might want to give some thought to 16:8 - there are a few threads on it here but you basically give yourself an 8-hour eating window every day, and within that window you eat what you like. A few people have been doing it for maintenance and some have even continued losing (having dropped 5:2). It's what I plan to do when I reach goal (in another stone!).

Good luck with maintenance, whatever you decide.
That's wonderful Tara, well done! :like: Look forward to hearing how you go with maintenance.
Excellent stuff Tara :)

Do let us know how you get on with maintenance, looking forward to when that's my challenge !!
:star: Well done, Tara! Reaching any goal is a brilliant achievement and small weight losses can be trickier than for those with a great deal to lose. Good luck in your transition to maintenance. :clover:

Hmm; I hadn't actually considered 16:8. I think I might find it too restrictive. The beauty of 5:2 is that I can eat whatever and whenever I want on non-fast days and I don't think I'd enjoy being restricted to a time window every single day. Still, don't knock it till you try it, hey?! Might give it a go one day.
Excellent news Tara - I have lost at a similar rate to you - about 1.5 kilos in total after 2.5 months, but 4in off waist. It's great to hear of people like you losing small amounts ... Looking forward to following you by the autumn ... :like: :clover:   I also have a pair of jeans waiting!
Let me add my congratulations too :) Well done!
Congratz! thats a kilo a month which has been my average.. 3 kg in 3 months.
