First week - not good
06 Feb 2013, 12:04
I fasted for 2 days - not one calorie over - and have gained 0.2lb after the first week. After the third day I'd lost 3.4lb but the 4 normal days after that have obviously been OTT. I didn't think I'd overeaten or overdrunk but obviously I have.

I will have to rethink what I'm eating in between fast days and maybe change which days are fast days to spread them out so they're not in the first three days of the week!

It's not long enough to judge. If you lose on average a pound a week, which is what this amount of restriction will do over the longer-term, then natural fluctuations will mask it until the loss is bigger.

Some people lose a lot the first week, that'll be water and/or weight if they've suddenly changed their diet from excess to IF. However, I think if you were fairly careful with your diet to start off then that first week loss is small. Mine was and I'm sure others are the same, it does vary hugely.

The temptation is to think because you were "good" and kept to 500 cals, the weight will drop off. It's actually only a 3000 cal restriction over the week and a pound of fat is more than that! :-)

Thanks. I will be keeping at it!! I think my expectations were too high based on other people's results so I'll see how it goes over the next few weeks. :)
