Hey there, have not posted in a long time. I had written back in July when I was suffering from a very long plateau. Anyway I decided to take a very honest look at my sugar addiction and also how I had been using Diet Lemonade and sugar free gum as a very unhealthy crutch. After reading more about the dangers of aspartame, I kicked the habit, and have been free of any of that junk for 3 weeks! I also read about Zoe Harcombe and did a week of her phase 1 which for me was completely caffeine free (that was difficult), dairy free (except for some full fat natural pro-biotic yogurt) and no carbohydrates except for vegetables. I had read all of her adherents claims for fantastic weight loss and thought I would lose something. Well I lost NADA, Zippo, Zero, Zilch, but felt really great and it made me really look at my sugar problem. I have been doing two weeks of her phase two (no mixing of fats with carbs at meals) and have been very careful with my sugar intake. I have also been doing the 5:2 still and finally this week I shifted a couple of grams. I am getting very close to where I want to be and start my maintenance. I have really cut out bread and pasta to almost zero and feel a lot better for it. Anyway I just mostly wanted to post to say that if anyone is a sugar addict it is something that one should really look at. I think eating "REAL FOOD" is really the best any of us can do for ourselves. I was shocked at how many things that I had seen as really healthy had sugars added (like some Kalamata Olives from Tesco) and it has made me really look at everything we buy, even though the bulk of it is vegetables and fish. Okay gotta run to work.

Yes the food industry is going to have to buck up. If loads of people stop buying things with sugar added (without real need as in savoury stuff) then thy may eventually stop it. We owe it to the generations following us. SUGAR IS A KILLER. In excess.
