Welcome!

The reason most of us don't eat breakfast on fast days is that we find eating actually makes us hungrier. If I eat something for breakfast (and what I would recommend is one egg and some vegetables -- lowest calories and highest satisfaction), it not only uses at least 100 calories, but it seems to wake up my appetite and make me hungrier earlier. If I do not eat breakfast, I find I don't get my first hunger pangs until about 2pm. Now some days are different than others and hormones and such can make a difference on any given day's fast. But by and large this is true for me and many others.

Interestingly enough, the man who started this diet actually feels he needs breakfast. Dr. Mosley has some breakfast suggestions in the 5:2 book. There are a few on this site as well: http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/collection/52 (Dr. Mosley works for the BBC)

Hello, welcome @Jennyr! Here's a pdf I put together for a friend of mine.

Everyone is different; a friend of mine does eat breakfast and lunch instead of dinner, pretty much the opposite of me. But I used to be convinced I needed breakfast; now I seldom eat it, at least not first thing in the morning. The only time I regularly eat something (other than black coffee) in the morning is when I do my dance meetup on Saturday mornings; I found that dancing all out for an hour and a half with nothing in my tummy left me feeling a little weak...so now I usually have a piece of toast with peanut butter and a bit of jam. That is a normal day, of course; no bread or peanut butter on light days!
