Fast Saturday, April 25
25 Apr 2015, 03:16
Who is in today? It's lunchtime in Japan. I've had a soft-boiled egg, 3 coffees and some cherry tomatoes. I'll probably have a miso soup later, then dinner.

Good luck, Saturday fasters! :clover: :clover:

I'm in today. Miso soup for lunch and Spanish chicken for dinner, which will probably put me closer to 800 but it is a Saturday  and after an indulgent day yesterday ( it was our wedding anniversary) I feel the need to put the brakes on and not wait until Monday.

Its a DODO day but I haven't fasted. i didn't have breakfast but then we had a shared meal at my place for a training session and it seemed too rude not to eat the lovely quiches that someone had made or to refuse the homemade sponge and cream. Pretty stressful days here with OH in hospital, and now they've diagnosed heart issues on top of everything else. So I'm being kind to myself. I'll call it a 16:8 day, and try again on Monday. Home for the weekend and then back to Launceston to sit by the bedside again on Monday.

Sending best wishes SallyO, I think you deserved that sponge

Thinking of you @sallyo and sending big hugs. Fasting can keep at times like this, so just look after yourself, because you have to be the strength for your hubby & keep him positive.

I'm in today for DODO fast #10. Have had two absolutely shocking non fast days this week, so even though I will have fasted 5 times before weigh-in next Tuesday, I am not holding my breath. Old habits die very hard and I seem to be comfort eating big time at the moment. Still, since this isn't a quick fix, I just have to be sensible....and live and learn. Not used to being that kind to myself, but it's a start.....

@MaryAnn I'm in for my 4th DODO. Planning ahead the weeks' menus has made the last week easy and ensures I eat my favourite dishes. @Sallyothinking of you and sending you and OH good wishes and that life settles down soon. I did the window approach during March and it worked well for me. If the day 'was my own' I'd fast otherwise I'd take it easy - there was no routine and that worked under the circumstances.
@Hazelnut20 sorry to hear you had a couple of non fast day blips. That's done, so time to focus on the week ahead and what you can accomplish. Have you read the Chimp Paradox yet? It's sitting here waiting for me.

Do you know, @lizbean, that book is something I've heard about from my brother & meant to get hold of.....but has slipped my memory....as everything does these days. Many thanks for reminding me - will get hold of a copy pronto!

Hope all is well with you? Xx

@Hazelnut20 thanks I'm well though managing a lot of change at work is proving a challenge to work life balance and that includes finding time for visiting the forum during the week. Saturday morning seems to be my catch up time for many of the weeks threads. It's like turning up late to a meeting :curse: Never mind, next week I'll get it right. I'm so pleased to be back planning the weeks menus, it's really made a difference. Some forum peeps have found the book helpful. Off to plan the weeks' menu and purchase later this pm. Tea and water till dinner time - dinner is marinated courgette spaghetti with a small lamb steak I've been experimenting with lots of different marinades for the courgette. Favourite so far is olive oil, lemon, fish sauce, crushed garlic, Himalayan crystal salt, black pepper, chopped coriander, basil and mint. Think I'll throw in some chopped green beans into the courgette spag tonight.
Good luck to all Saturday fasters :clover:

Thinking of you@Sallyo understanding your anxieties about OH. I wish him well and that medical know-how will get the issues sorted out. Don't forget to breathe deeply, it helps to clear the mind and relax the shoulders. Driving to visit Hospital is very tiring apart from hospital itself. Drive mindfully! The cake and extra food isn't an issue because you know how and when to adjust again. Sending a big hug, Katrine.

Thanks everyone. It's been awful. And I'm still not officially allowed to drive, due to my broken wrist. I got a ride home with someone who was running the training today. On Monday I'm going to get 'community transport' back to the hospital in Launceston. On Tuesday I have to come back here to go to the orthopaedics clinic and have an Xray on my wrist. I'm not officially allowed to drive but I've decided to do so. It's only one day prior to the 6 week mark after which I'm allowed. I could have stayed home until Tuesday, got a friend to drive me to the clinic, spent another night at home and caught the 'community transport' car back to Lonny on Wednesday but I didn't like to leave the OH on his own up there all that time. So it is an automatic car and with no hand break, so the only risk is an insurance risk and I'm going to take it. It has all been so complicated. I am so relieved that we finally got a bed in hospital for OH and it is good that it's been diagnosed. The heart issues were masked by the lung infections. He put on a kg a day for 4 days, fluid, and had very fat legs. About to collapse into bed with a hot water bottle and Phillipa Gregory. Please can I sleep all night.
