Fasting Thursday 10th December
10 Dec 2015, 13:48
What  no fasters today? Come on you fasters  :clover:
I have a Christmas dinner this evening so I'll fast tomorrow instead.
I was just coming by to say I'm in for today. I'm down 4 pounds now from the start of the month! I'm guessing at least some was water weight, but I'll still take it. I gained about 7 pounds from July to November, and I'm guessing it was due to my thyroid issues. I was on the wrong medication and felt horrible. They took me off the medication in mid November, and I'm feeling so much better now.

So I've already had my morning espresso. Now I've moved on to my Marco Polo tea by Marriage Freres (one of the few black teas I enjoy without adding any milk or sugar). I'll make a smoothie with hemp protein powder at maybe 1 or 2pm. Then tonight it's a chicken breast and a big pile of green beans with onions.
I'm here  but I'm done now, just had my slim rice risottoey dinner and feeling warm and satisfied! It was easy today as it's been non-stop! I have enough cals left for a cuppa tea and 2 squares of Sainsburys sugar free dark chocolate
Hi everyone, I am in for today :)

14 hours in, 22 more to go! :)
I guess I'm a little bit envious of those who can have the low cal versions of goodies; I can't STAND the taste of any artificial sweetener, including stevia. The aftertaste is just horrible to me.

I'm in today, just now having my pot o' green tea (11am here). Planning on going to the skating rink tonight, weather has been horrible, not skateable outdoors.

You should try Xylitol. It's not 0 calories, but it tastes just like sugar without the poor aftertaste.
1tsp = 10 cal.

I'm convinced that tolerance to artificial sweeteners might be a genetic thing. I have had friends suggest things to me, saying they taste great and I think they're disgusting. I can't eat anything with stevia in it - it tastes like chemical death to me, even though I know it's all natural. I have friends who swear splenda tastes like sugar, but I don't understand how they can say that.

Have you tried Xylitol? It's a natural sweetener. People that didn't like Stevia, Sucralose, Aspartame, etc., ended up liking Xylitol as it's the closest alternative to sugar without the poor aftertaste and harmful effects.
One way to ensure a fast. Electrician working on a problem in the airing cupboard all morning so couldn't get to the kitchen. Out exercising this afternoon. I had an evening meal before going of about 300 calories. Christmas meeting so there was some lovely home-made food but I was unable to get anywhere near it so didn't have any. Surprisingly I am not hungry. Hope the scales show all that tomorrow morning.
@MisterChew, I have tried xylitol, and while it doesn't taste as bad as most of them, it causes digestive issues. Plus, I'm kinda a natural gal; don't eat fast food, high fructose corn syrup, artificial color or flavor (amazing the things they put the latter in!)...and of course meat (including poultry and fish). I just try to keep the ol' sweet tooth down to a dull roar; fortunately, it's not nearly as bad as when I was younger. Yeah, stevia is natural too (so is poop!), but I don't like it and ain't gonna eat it. I upset some people at my old office when I said I'd rather drink urine than diet soda.
I think it's in all of those nasty chewing gums.

I'm not an artificial sweetener kind of person. I haven't put a sweetener in a drink in a long time. I'm actually trying to get away from craving the taste of sweet. So thank you for your recommendation, but I am going to continue to avoid any fake/non-caloric sweeteners.

In addition there's those studies showing that non-caloric sweeteners may not be good for you as they tend to make the brain think "oh good, calories are coming" and then pump out insulin to meet the calories -- which never show up.

I just don't think there's any good reason to use a non-caloric sweetener, aside from type 1 diabetes. Everyone else should simply try to wean themselves off the extreme amounts of sugar most people seem to eat.

Did you read my post at all? It's a natural sweetener aka. sugar alcohol broken down from fruits and vegetables.

1 tsp = 10 calories

So, it's neither fake nor is it zero calories.
Why would anyone use it then? 1 teaspoon of real sugar has only 9 calories?

No, I'm sorry but I didn't click on your link. I have no interest in any sugar substitutes - fake, natural, non caloric or caloric. I am interested in getting off the sugar addiction and the desire for sugary food.
