Good Morning 5:2ers in the States!

I started a fast post for our side of the world as we are really just starting our day. Hope no one minds.

Today is my 7th fast, and so far so good, 6 down, and 9 pounds gone. I hope the losses continue, even if slow, to keep me motivated.

I woke up today with a bit of a sore throat, dont know what thats about hope it goes away.

Trying something just a tad different today. I have been spacing out my calories during the day, like yogurt in the morning, salad with some protein around 5pm, and an apple with PB2 around 9pm. Has worked well, but today Im going to cook a really nice looking recipe for turkey stuffed zucchini I found on a recipe site posted on the forum. I can make extra than the recipe calls for, have 2 of them for myself (400 calories) and my husband can have 4 of them, for a normal size dinner. Of course this means really no food all day. I think I can do it, if not, I'll throw a yogurt in , and go for it, for as long as I can stand it.

Have a good fast all!
Today's thread in this section is already open. Just join in there, eh?

ok sorry... even tho, by the time this half of the world starts the day, the fasting post started almost a day ago, is the one to keep growing..

I'll refrain from a 2nd fasting day post next time...
Yes but dianehelen, that means you have the advantage of taking into account how others have been coping on the day in question, all over the world. And you can respond to them, as well, in a way that first-posters can't.

There are all sorts of folk on here from all over the world (to state the obvious!) - believe me, that is not a disadvantage, whether you are from England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Europe, Australia, NZ, Japan, Scandinavia - or indeed, the US. The American presence on here is well established, and very welcome - and we who live elsewhere enjoy the straight talk, candour, humour and good nature of everyone from the States, where-ever they are. Just as we enjoy the Aussies, and others from various countries, who join in the forums and give them a uniquely international flavour. There are various threads on here to do with lifestyle (runners, those who use exercise, vegetarians, foodies etc) but I don't think there is any need for any geographical threads.

I can't help but feel that this sense of community is as important a result as the weight / inch loss, and should be rightly celebrated - and also prized.

Stick around. Ask questions. Listen and take it all in. Support others, and they will support you (and not necessarily in that order, they will probably support you first, as they are a very generous lot on here.) Above all, join in - but don't try to run before you can walk, or before you've found your feet. And before you know it, you will be one of us, and will wonder why on earth you ever wanted a separate thread for those across the pond on a fasting day, or for any other reason ...

:clover:
Thank you silverdarling for your post. Dianehelen, I remember when I first started and I was consumed by 5 2. Personally I love it when the Aussies start the post they are thoroughly enjoyable people. The Brits have much more experience with this woe they are well into a year and a half. We need their insight and experience. This the second time you have suggested this concept. :frown: Judging from the past replies we all enjoy things just the way they are. The good luck your having in terms of weight loss will be short lived as you move forward on this woe and you will look to the "upper classmen" on this forum for much needed advice and encouragement.
Silverdarling, I totally agree with you. I find the time differences and the differences in culture/lifestyle fascinating and would very much regret it if this were to be sacrificed to some geo-segregational thingy. Enough said.
Indeed, I so love it when the Aussies start a "fasting today" thread and it's still yesterday here in Greece. :-)
Yeah but as a fellow American 5:2er I do feel sometimes we can feel a bit left out due to some of the culture differences and language.

It took me a bit to figure out what a "Stone" was equal to as well as what "crisps" are, but thanks to Google, I now know - LOL. Still don;t understand the "Wey Hey" thing. . .
Well for crying out loud I think the United States probably has the largest mix of culturally different people in the world. My downstairs neighbor is from Albania and one from Slovakia and the upstairs neighbor from Ottawa Canada. Four houses across the street are owned by Chinese and Vietnamese. Do you not talk to these people?. We are a nation of immigrants. All our families came from somewhere else. As a matter of fact if your from the southern part of the country I don't know what your saying either as I am from the northeast region. It's nice to learn something different everyday.
Why don't dianehelen and Guitar 1969 start a forum of their own instead of trying to hijack ours? It's the only solution methinks.

Wow! I was just sharing my feelings sometimes which was I thought was safe and encouraged here but I guess not. I guess I will keep quiet on "YOUR FORUM".

WOW!!! Although I don't get the problem that has arisen either, this is very rude and unnecessary.
I like it when I get up and the forum has been busy while I was sleeping, lot's to read and catch up with while I have my coffee  I may be wrong but I think josie's post was a joke that didn't quite work, that's how I read it anyway :?:
This forum belongs to everyone. I don't think there was necessarily ill intent in the post but it's hard to tell from just text on a screen. Maybe folks need to start using j/k to show when they're just kitting (or maybe I need to set up a smilie for that like I did on my other forum).

Anyway, while I understand there is a small demand for international segregation I still believe the majority enjoy mixing it up a bit with folks from around the world, and many who have initially wanted regional areas have gone on to integrate well and be glad of it.

Going to lock this before it turns into an argument. Please folks let's calm down, it hardly seems welcoming if people get nunky at the mere suggestion of splitting things up! We're nice folk here, honest!
