First fast of the week. I'm about to make my second coffee for the day but other than that, herbal tea, water, and a mug of stock at about lunch time, nothing till a dinner of vegetable curry tonight. There's coconut milk in but I'd rather eat that than use my calories for rice. Anyone joining me?

Hi yes I am fasting today here in Australia ..... week 8 and it's certainly getting easier. Herbal tea and a coffee this morning. Some miso soup for lunch and then homemade salmon mornay for dinner.
Yes I'm fasting today, I seem to find Monday's easier, it goes along with the general Mondayness!
However, I'm not too blue, as I FINALLY broke through a bit of a plateau and weighed in at 167 this morning, which is a whole pound lower than 3 weeks ago, and now 7 pounds away from target, although that does seem like a LONG way!

I've had my morning coffee, and will just have cups of tea until about 5pm when I have a Tesco Paella at 427 calories!

Hi all,yes fast day for me,nothing but water all day then made myself a tuna salad ever for dinner, but having a green tea and some pistachio nuts as I feel really hungry,it's hard because of the work I do,9 hours of cleaning today. Good luck to everyone else today
I'm in today, too. I feel like I've gone off the rails lately. Too much wine and junk food. Trying to go sugar free has always been a disaster for me, so I won't do that, but I am aiming for an alcohol-free month. And I'm going to try a bit harder to nail my fasts, which have been slipping more and more lately. (I am in maintenance, so I don't feel I need to be quite as strict with myself, but if I plan to actually maintain, I need to get my act together!)
I'm in today, still early here (before 10am), so having coffee now. @Newgirl, while we do recommend waiting as late as possible to eat, if you have an active job, you might need to experiment to find what works best for you. I still do the afternoon veggie broth with a blob of coconut oil; the salt and bit of fat are very satisfying and I understand can help with that "shaky empty" feeling (without triggering insulin). What did help me early on is keeping a little journal and recording what/when I ate, and how I felt throughout the day. One doesn't want to overreact to a one-time transitory feeling (of weakness or whatever), since it might not be related to fasting. But if you find a common occurrence during light days of feeling tired or weak, you can then adjust the timing (and possibly composition) of your meals. This is meant to be a lifetime WOL, not a temporary fad you need to "tough out." So, the idea is to make it YOURS, and as easy as possible for YOU.
@Newgirl Personally, I recommend protein, protein, protein. For the first year of fasting, I had a rough time if I was too active or had to exercise before dinner. But some lean protein really helped me on those days. Do you like hard boiled eggs? Or perhaps lowfat deli turkey? A hard boiled egg is roughly 70 calories. I like to add seasoned salt and pepper. It can hold be over for a while. Or 2 ounces of deli turkey is about 50 calories. The boullion/broth also helps me a lot, but I have never put coconut oil in mine (I can't stand the taste of coconut oil).

I'm in for my own fast day. I had about 50 calories of deli turkey an hour ago, with a handful of baby carrots. Now I'm about to start making dinner. I have a giant fresh cauliflower that I will butcher, spritz with cooking spray and garam masala and roast. I'm making baignan bharta from scratch (Indian roasted eggplant puree with tomatoes, onions, garlic, cilantro, chili and garam masala). And I'm doing a diet version of chicken tikka -- I cut the chicken breast into cubes, and the marinate is just a modest amount of yogurt with the tikka spices and lemon juice (no oil or butter). I'll grill the chicken and serve it with the veggies. Should be pretty happy making.
I'm fasting today too. I felt tired and a bit sick in early afternoon efore realizing I had only one cup of coffee all day. After a quart of seltzer water which I flavor with a cup of cranberry juice, I felt better. More tea or coffee before I get a lack-of-caffeine headache.
@tracieknits, yum! I'll be over for supper  I wish!
Onward to my salad with boiled egg with some vinegar, salt, and a bit of olive oil.

Oh yes, @Tracieknits, one of my fave light day "snacks" is a hardboiled egg, both for food value and satiety. I've even done a poached egg for a late night snack, when I just have to have something and don't want to blow my light day at the last minute... Hey, can I come to your house for dinner tonight? Sometimes I find it hard to make a real meal just for myself on light days...

Just to mention, in adding oil to broth, it needn't be coconut oil, I felt a bit of fat would help me make it to dinner without triggering insulin; I happen to have it on my counter; you can use whatever you wish... None, if you prefer, or use a meat broth with fat; not an option for me, as a vegetarian. Speaking of that, get to have in less than an hour, yay!
Yeah, some days it's hard to make a real meal on a fast day. And some days the promise of a really nice meal is what gets me through the last few hours. I really wanted Indian food. And because I'm tracking every day, and because I'm in my last 3 weeks before my trip, I'm just not going to allow a trip to an indian restaurant. So I had to get creative :-)
Oh Tracieknits, that sounds good!

I feel better having gotten through a fast day. And I went to the gym.
Thanks for the advice ladies, when I first started fasting I would have a hard boiled egg in the morning but I need all my calories at the end of the day I think, but once I start eating I just want to keep going, that's why it's so hard, but I will keep going with it. Thanks again

Keep at it. I'm only 6 months into 5:2, and my body has become used to the fast days. I try to keep the days the same, or close.
