Fasting today, Monday 11 July
11 Jul 2016, 02:10
Hi all, me here as usual to kick the week off. I had a fun filled and indulgent birthday weekend so I am looking forward to a nice light day to give my system a rest. I generally find Monday fast's easier than Thursday - does anyone else find the same?
Happy Monday fasting everyone - I weigh in on a Tuesday so am looking forward to posting a good result in @justdee's challenge tomorrow.
Hey Pilchards - thanks for starting us off!

It's been a while since I've posted on this one, but after two weeks of school holidays and some unfettered eating it looks like I finally have to throw in a few fast days. So I figured today being the first day back at work was as good a one as any. It's been a good couple of months since I've seriously done a fast day, so I've kinda forgotten what it's like. But I think I did always find the beginning of the week easier...except for the really nice morning teas they put on here on Mondays! Anyway, I am feeling the cold at the moment, and today's not exactly been a cold winter's day here, so I guess that's just the fasting causing it.

I'm also starting meatless mondays this week - My Mr and I have been considering eating less meat for a while, so we're going to try the part-time vego thing. Tonight I'm making stir-fry with tempeh or tofu (can't remember which I bought!) so we'll see how it goes.
Hi @PeonyBlue nice to see you here! Our very own @Juliana.Rivers co-runs a really good Facebook group called The 5 Day Vegetarian https://www.facebook.com/groups/203432216660450/ which is a great source of inspiration for meatless Monday's, tofu Tuesday's, wellness Wednesday's etc..... Worth checking it out.
Oooh - thanks for that info. Unfortunately I'm a facebook avoider - I have a hubby who lets me know what's going on in my FB friends' worlds...maybe I'll have to put him onto it.

I was mostly vegetarian for quite a while once I moved out of shared accommodation and was able to do my own thing food-wise, and I'm rather looking forward to moving in that direction again...so long as I can keep convincing "he whose stomach must be obeyed" that vegetarian food is delicious and satisfying
I tried to start this post first thing this morning but it got swallowed up and disappeared. I've been to a conference this morning but declined the scones with cream and jam for m'tea and left just when lunch was served. I tend to find Mondays harder than Thursdays as the latter is my day off and I run around doing cleaning, washing, shopping, etc and don't get exposed to colleagues' lunch choices and smells. Not sure what I'm having for dinner tonight which is unusual for me on a fast day.
Don't you hate that @Wmr309 - it has happened to me! Well done for avoiding the morning tea at your conference. Dinner for me tonight is probably avocado on toast with a sprinkle of dukkah with maybe a poached egg if I feel the need. I'm having a hungry half hour at the moment which is why I jumped on to the forums to maintain my resolve. I'll go and make myself a cuppa to see if that helps.
Keep stronger Monday fasters! ( that message is mostly for me...... )

And me. It has just started raining and I'm about to go on my bike to ride home. On other days I might decide to stay a bit longer and make myself a hot chocolate... I'm off home to make soup and will put some chili in it to warm me through.
I'm in today. I find Monday fasts easier too, not sure why but I like the idea of a repair day after the weekend. Perhaps I should think about a Thursday fast as preparation for the weekend?
I've changed my weigh in day to a Monday and that kept me more focused on eating well on Saturday and Sunday.
Have a good day everyone.
I'm in as well today. I've planned large salads for dinner, this time with a tex-mex flair, adding taco seasoned grilled chicken breast, grilled onions and peppers and salsa to our salads. We might even go crazy and add a very small handful of tortilla chips and black beans.

Great job avoiding that tea service, WMR309
I'm in today, still early here (only 10am), about time for my pot o' green tea. Not sure what I'll be having later. I think I need to keep track again of exactly what I'm having...felt fat this morning, usually weigh in on Fridays but have been "forgetting" lately...so weighed this morning, not too bad but still need to be more mindful, especially on light days. So, declaring I'm going to track today at least.
Having weighed in yesterday at nearly two pounds over my target weight, I have been fasting today and have made it through with no dramas. Luckily, I have been busy so didn't really think about food until 18.30, when I made dinner with cold chicken, three new potatoes (sautéed in a very little oil), carrots and green beans. I will have a low-cal drinking chocolate in a while and then that will be it for today - the kitchen will be closed!
Good luck to those still fasting and well done to those of you who have finished eating for the day!

Thank you @Pilchards Sorry I missed this earlier. I appreciate your referral to the group.
Already nearly 250 members.. I have so rediscovered vegetarian food as the "main type of food" for a meal not just as the side dish to a big steak or piece of chicken. Still eat meat but not every day and dont crave it. Never felt better. Enough studies show that eating more plant based food is better for you.
