Fast day today and started the day feeling a little disappointed as weight , which has fluctuated by a few hundred grams over the past fortnight, is the same as when I restarted 5:2.(Although at one point it did show my lowest weight for many years which was nice). Admittedly dinner last night was at a Chinese restaurant for a grandsons 8th birthday; did have a white wine, but no rice and small amounts of four different meat and veg meals - With the wine I still had more than 850 calories left to play with but of course have no idea of how the dishes were cooked. Anyway these are my TDEE stats as can't work out why there isn't a greater effect on my weight. Originally a little higher, TDEE and Fast day calories are now 1400 and 350.
901/1400 581 deficit
Fast day 450
948/1400 deficit 550
Fast day 347
1469/1400 over 69
948/1400 deficit 550
777/1400 deficit 623
Fast day 361
997/1400 deficit 475
880/1400 deficit 520
Fast Day 432
939/1400 deficit 546
1196/1400 deficit 204
535/1400 with 865 for Chinese meal
I did notice a posting somewhere on the forum that Fast day should be a quarter of normal eating so am I mucking things up by not eating closer to TDEE?
I'm fasting today! Feel ill from eating too much last night. Throat glands are swollen :frown: oh well. Cant take pain killers on an empty stomach so have to wait till this evening. Damn Damn.

@cmce keep at it is all I can say, and don't look at the scales. I've been trying to lose the "last 5 kg" for the last 4 years and ended up going up, and I think a large reason for that is the inherent stress of trying to lose weight.
Now I've been on 3 fast days a week for 4 weeks and have lost 3 kg I put on from stress. But the scales have been up and down like a yo-yo. The most awesome change has been the pudgy skin has gone. So I say ditch the scales and buy a outfit you want to fit into - you'll see results.
Anyway - you might like this calculator - it's been around for years highly recommended for prediction of weight loss http://www.1percentedge.com/ifcalc/
Me too - are we the only ones today....???

It's my first fast for at least a year. Weight creeping back up this last 6 months so I've decided to go for it and re-join.!

Black coffee, Miso soup and an Apple and a Satsuma for lunch then home-made, low fat Minestrone for dinner.

good luck everyone.
Moira :clover:
I'm with you guys. Sore head this morning though so hoping lots of black coffee and Paracetamol will sort me out! At work until 8pm and it's feeling like a long day already!
And I'm in too. Hopefully one of three. Good luck to fellow asters :clover:

Are you having that huge of a calorie deficit EVERY DAY? Honestly, I think that's the problem. One of the reasons I love 5:2 is that some days I eat a little over my TDEE, some days i eat on my TDEE and some days I eat far below my TDEE. I think that's part of the reason it works so well -- my metabolism never knows what's going on, never goes into "starvation mode" and never slows down because less food is coming in. Plus I never get diet fatigue, because I have treat days every week.

How about you try eating 1300 to 1500 calories on regular days and then your 350-450 fast days? Or maybe something like 1300/400/1300/1400/400/1700/1300

I'm in for a light day today :-)
Coming to the end of my fast day  grilled chicken and veg for dinner which I cannot wait for! I've been on herbal tea all day and had a banana for lunch to give me a bit of fuel for a little workout after work. I want to lose 10lbs in time for my hen do, and have 10 weeks to go so I feel like I really need to make sure I keep on track
I'm fasting today, too. So far so good.

@cmce, Chinese food tends to be high in salt and/or MSG and can cause water retention. You might get lucky and see a bigger loss in a day or two. Fingers crossed.
How lovely to see so many of you fasting. How did it all go yesterday? Did you stay below 500 cals?

I'm fasting today and so far its just me and @MerryMelb doh!

Bean  :starving:
Hi NurseBean!

My fast day yesterday was ok - I probably had more like 600-650 calories, but for my first fast in over a year I thought that wasn't too bad.

I didn't feel like gnawing my own hand off, however, and I thought that wasn't too bad either!

How's your day been?

Moira
Haha!I'm glad you didn't eat your own hand @Moira145! That would have bean a tad drastic!! I think 650 cals is VERY acceptable - a great achievement in fact! Certainly much better than mine. I was so good all day and then blew it in the evening. No chocolates in the house is the only way I'm going to nip that one in the bud!

Here's to a great 'sensible eating' day today!

Bean
