I'm here as usual for a Monday. A good weigh in for me today so very motivating. My son is getting married in August and i bought my dress last week. It is more fitted that I have been used to wearing so no room for 'slippage'
@Sallyo in the last couple of years I have become a great advocate of zinc as a help in preventing colds and speeding up recovery. If I am in contact with anyone with a cold I start taking it together with echinacea. It doesn't always stop me catching it but they don't last very long.
Thanks @Lil, yes, Ease-a-cold has echinacea and zinc in it. It works well, as long as you start taking it early enough before the cold gets it's claws in. I have not had a good fast day. Perhaps it was the cold weather, or perhaps it is the stress of everything, Perhaps I am comfort eating. I haven't counted the calories but I'm pretty sure it would be too many. I'll just carry on regardless and try again on Thursday. I notice that the Australian Women's Weekly has put out a 5:2 Recipe book - with apparently no acknowledgment of Michael Mosely. I may be wrong, I picked it up on the table out side the news agency and did a quick flick through. I wanted to buy it but I have pledged to buy no new recipe books in 2015. But I do think I need a bit of guidance at the moment. I'm not doing well on eating nothing until dinner time, so it would be good to have some planned menus which include breakfast, lunch and dinner. Perhaps I will break my pledge for this special item. Comfort shopping therapy as well! Today I bought new underpants, new very soft cotton singlets and new pyjamas; helps me feel ready for winter.
Back on the wagon here after a 6 month break when lot of travelling got in the way of thinking of diet. I was pleased to see the weightloss of previous 6 months did not all get undone. Still have a way to go to get to interim target :(

Big motivation is to be able to wear clothes that have slid to back of wardrobe. This time of year is good also as better weather ( tho still waiting for summer to arrive) means can be more active and happy to eat salads. I have good supply of herbs to cheer up the old lettuce.... even a leaf of coriander or parsley is a small treat to pan out the hours til 'mealtime'. So my plan is just milkless teas until maybe some Bovril if I feel energy really dropping and try hold off til late afternoon til some soup. So most of allowance will be in main meal c 6 pm and hold back some calories for bedtime snack. Being too hungry is one of problems in getting sleep post fastday.

I dont seem to have been hit by the bad headache that was symptom of first fast days last year.

Vit C powder in mego doses is my tip for fending off impending cold.
@Sallyo sending hugs , I have days when I am just to darn cold and miserable feeling to fast ,but the good thing about this WOE is being able to chalk it up and have another go , and knowing that even tho you might not have had a full fast day its still going to be better than a full eating day :-)
I am very envious of your new PJ's .. I am sitting here freezing and its supposed to be summer here !!

@Cobham thanks for reminding me about Bovril .. I'm now going to rummage in my cupboard to see if I can find some as I am really bored with bouillon and need something hot and salty :-)
I am fasting today, after two successful fasts last week. I am thinking I'll eat a bit more food today because I don't want to be as stringent as I was before, when my appetite went out of control.

I've been making homemade burritos with chicken and lots of veg and taco sauce, which is a nice summer fast day food, and then greek yogurt with a sprinkle of granola for dessert.
Ha! What a twit I am! It's the first day of summer, supposedly, here in the UK...and it's wet & cold. I've been out today trying to find a dress for my brother's 50th birthday party THIS Saturday (talk about back-end loading!) and I now have very cold feet coz I went out in Fit Flops! And no dress........yikes!

Took advantage of the free coffee in Waitrose to stave off the hunger. Am having a tub of soup in about half an hour, before going out tonight to a fashion show in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. No food on offer there, but some great company.....so hopefully I will get thru today unscathed.......
Hello @ElizaC, good to see a fellow American joining--more and more of us are discovering 5:2! Not that the Brits and Aussies aren't WONDERFUL, but they're usually asleep when we're posting.

Just 10:30am here, having my pot of green tea. My friend is 5:2ing, after a bit of a rocky start (too stringent, like old "diets"), but seems to be getting the hang of it now. If anyone has suggestions for breakfast for him, he eats meat but can't have eggs, :starving: I don't think he'll be a non-breakfast eater like me. I keep telling him not everyone goes without eating till dinner on light days like I do--and even I didn't do that at first--but I think he's a little confused by the LACK of hard-and-fast rules on 5:2. BTW, if anyone is interested, I wrote up a one-page summary of "plain vanilla" 5:2 for him.
