Fasting today?

Every day there will be a new topic in this forum for today's fasters to chat & support each other.
Please don't make extra threads in here besides the daily fasting threads, if you've got a question please post it in the relevant forum or ask in today's 'Fasting Today' thread, thank you.

Let's go! I'll start the thread. It's an overcast, cold morning in Tasmania. It was 3 degrees when I got up an hour ago and has crept up to 5. Warm in the house though. I am about to have my first coffee. Dinner will be chicken and vegetable soup, out of the freezer. My big job to do today is to tidy up a big shelf in my study. I have to locate a heater to put in that room as it is really cold in there. We are going to have renovations done soon which will include putting double glazed windows into that room and into the living room. At the moment the study has many gaps and points where cold air can enter. It is going to be insulated and re-plastered and the leaky windows and door removed. So I have to tidy it up so that I can move everything easily out for the renoes. Perhaps I could resurrect the Decluttering Tent.
Hi @Sallyo, it sounds like you will be busy today, always good to have a distraction.
I was trying ADF then 4:3 and now back to 5:2. I really busy at the moment so that helps the fasting, however the high stress levels then dont help. But on a happy note its only 3 weeks until I fly away for 6 weeks, cant wait.
Happy Fasting
Thanks for starting us off, Sallyo, and good luck with the tidy-up. I did my tidy-up day over the weekend - went through my whole wardrobe, tossing out old clothes that were too big, bagging some for charity and forming another pile of my favourite big clothes that I'm hoping to take in (looks like I have a big project witH that for the next few weekends!) Best of all, I went through clothes in storage, and was able to resurrect some that I haven't worn in years. I even tried on my old Year 12 formal outfit, and by golly gosh, it was even a little big! If I get brave enough to show off my hideous late 80s fashion, I might even put it up in the fashionista tent!
Anyway, I'm on a fast day today - last week's fast got lost to a big morning tea at work, and my weight is hovering rather persistently at 600g over my preferred top weight. I'm going to try for a good two fasts this week and see if it gets me back under goal. So expect to see me back here Thursday as well.
All the best fasters, especially those like Sallyo who are having to cope with the cold, and may the fast be with you all!
I'm in today too. Like @Wineoclock I have been flirting with DODO and 4:3 but am having a back to basics 5:2 week this week. Had an indulgent weekend so nice to be giving my system a rest today. Just tea and maybe a miso soup until a big bowl of roasted veggies with couscous and quinoa for dinner tonight. Happy Monday fasting everyone. :clover:
I'm in, too. I think I'll fast MWF. I'm getting a pedicure tonight with some friends and we'll do dinner after, so today might not be a proper fast...
You probably all think I'm bonkers as it's 4.30am here in the UK and I'm off to bed having written a Management Committee handbook for our housing co-operative, since guests left after dinner yesterday evening, very dry stuff but I'm so pleased it is completed. Dawn is rising so time to get some sleep ahead of fasting tomorrow. Thankfully it is a bank holiday so I can sleep in. :sleepy:
Happy fasting everyone :clover:
Hi everyone,
I'm in too today.
I braved the pool at 8.30 and did my laps, so glad it's not as cold in Sydney as in Tassy @ Sallyo.
I had a GP appt this morning- she informed me that my BSL is on the higher limit after my annual blood test so I wasn't very happy with that! :frown: I'll have a glucose tolerance test later in the week- maybe it was just a glitch? :?:
Have a successful fast day one and all.
I'm in today. Really need it as we have had friends staying for the past week and that has involved lots of eating and drinking  beautiful morning, so I will walk the dog through the vineyards, tackle a huge pile of ironing and maybe reward myself with a lie by the pool with my book later. Chicken and veg soup tonight. Happy fasting everyone :clover:
@Lizbean, I totally understand the 4am shift when you have writing that has to be completed. What a relief to have it done. And now you can sleep and wake up to a public holiday. Very excellent resolve, @gigi55, you must feel great after a swim. I have done a fabulous job in the study, thrown away mountains of paper. Now I am left with a hug collection of postcards, inherited from my mum. I am starting on a project of writing everyone post cards. It's a bit like writing haiku. Dinner is on the horizon. Seems like chicken and veg soup is the food of the day, @SkinnyJeans.
I've been on holiday from work for the last week and my body is telling me it has had enough of the abuse I've put it through so a much needed fast today - a small baked potato with tuna and salad for dinner tonight. I've got that going back to work tomorrow feeling today :frown: . I was supposed to be doing a bit of painting outside today but it is far too windy. I think I'll need to do some inside jobs instead - ironing, paperwork.
I'm in today. Bit nippy and windy in Edinburgh which has been the norm this May.
Trying to get back down to around 65kg. 2 good fasts last week and hoping for the same again. Just liquid until tea tonight and chicken stirfry. Monday fast is always so much easier than Thursday. Maybe the guilt from the weekend is a big motivator.
I am fasting today today, its 12.18pm and feeling a bit hangry! I think my period is due and that always makes me feel a bit tense. I only started back on the 5:2 last week after nearly 8 months off, and I am feeling so much better already, I can feel my tummy starting to look a bit smaller! What motivates people? For me its dreaming about tomorrow´s breakfast. I find the mornings the hardest on a fast because I am such a breakfast person! Anyway, here´s to a good fast, and a pound or two less hopefully at the end of the week
@Caboodlez welcome back to fasting. Well, I'm in maintenance so my current motivation is to reach end of June (within my weight range) which is six months, then I'll aim for 12 months. In the days of losing my motivation was because as each week passed by I felt healthier and happier, as you say 'feeling so much better'. On a daily basis a regular reminder the 'kitchen is closed' still helps me keep on track when my mind is wandering, I find it's a really powerful phrase and makes me get back in line without any fuss  . Here's to a successful week for you :clover:
Just completed the fast day - put on about 0.8 lb over the weekend (had a choccy fix) so must work harder this week to lose it by my official weigh-in day on Saturday.
I've had my chicken and veg soup, it feels good to be back on track after a week off. I hope everyone has had a successful day
