It's morning here and I'll start this thread to get me motivated for today.

Many of us are returning to work today after a holiday break, so I have sorted out my food for today to be prepared (and to avoid all the biscuits in the staff room!)
I think there were a few posters who said they were kick starting their 5:2 journey today, so jump onboard :clover:

I started the day with a small bowl of berries and a coffee. Lunch will be some cottage cheese and picked cucumbers; with dinner of tuna, tomatoes and veg.
Happy fasting everyone!
It is still late evening here but I will be joining you in the morning. I'm planning to get by on herbal tea, tap water and a tuna salad at dinner time.
Happy New Year. All the best for 2016 to everybody.

Thanks for starting @MerryMelb fasting today myself - so far just coffee, water and one small plum. Enjoy your day.

Hope you all have a great day. I'm in Melbs as well - nice cool change today after all that heat!

Ham and coleslaw for the evening meal tonight.

Cheers
Maggie.
Lovely to see a new poster in Melbourne, @MerryMelb! I have been fasting today. I too had berries and yogurt for breakfast and then I had lettuce, tomato and cucumber with an egg for lunch and tonight it's cabbage and chicken soup, out of the freezer. I don't think I've put on any weight over Christmas. We're nearly there, Aussies!
Hi! Thanks for getting me thinking about fasting on Monday (Sunday night here in Boulder City, just down the road from Sin City, otherwise known as Vegas.) I'm actually looking forward to a good fast day. It helps me feel great--much lighter. Yogurt, berries, nuts, vegetable soup, fish and salad in really small portions should do the trick. Also, moving more is in my future. New Year, new opportunities. Best wishes to all of you.
A good fast under my belt! I was working until 8pm - so a mini meal around 5 (tuna and tomato) and another at 8:45 (smoked salmon and beetroot). Some fizzy soda water with a splash of diet lime cordial was my cocktail. :drink:

And now I must declare the kitchen closed! My big downfall is snacking after dinner - when I am not even hungry.

Your menu sounds tasty @Sallyo - thank you for welcoming me onboard. Your posts have inspired me, and you've done well maintaining over Christmas!
All the best with your fasting day @Bordergirl
I hope all the newbies have a good fast too - take it easy on yourself, and it is OK to feel hungry. It will pass!

cheers
Merry
@MerryMelb thanks for leading us out and well done to all who fast completed their fast so far. I'm really looking forward to that post fast feeling. Tea and fizzy water and a dinner of poached salmon and salad, berries and yoghurt.
Good luck everyone, especially all the newbies. :clover:
Good morning from the US! I'm fasting today for the first time in a while. I faced the scale. It wasn't pretty, but I'm ready to tackle that extra weight! I am starting off with some oatmeal, but then will go all day with just liquid until dinner. (I hope!)
Have a good fast day everyone!!
My first day back on the fasting waggon and i thought i would start at the deep end and have a fast day.
It's 2pm here in the uk and i have just gotten by on water and a few coffee's up to now, which i'm very pleased with.
May have some soup later but i'm going to hang on as long as possible, chicken breast and salad on the menu for dinner.
good luck everyone :like:
First fast of the new year and it's going well. Just green tea to sip and looking forward to cauliflower rice and home made curry for my meal this evening. Happy new year to all and good luck for today.
Me too, first one of 2016! Trying a new way of not eating breakfast, then soup for lunch, now looking forward to veg chili for supper from Fast diet cookbook. It's also new for me to do it in a non-work day, but keeping busy & trying not to think about food. I've recently taken up knitting as a new hobby to distract me from food! Good luck to everyone starting in 2016.
I'm in today; sure is nice seeing all these newbies! Don't forget to come to the forum, not just on light days, often we can use some support/inspiration on those normal days even more!

It's not quite noon here West US, had my coffee and am now having pot o' green tea....will do usual later, broth, salad after work, dinner 9-10ish. Just so the newbies know, one of the best things about 5.2 is its flexibility; I'm a night owl and my biggest concern is ensuring I'm not hungry at bedtime--postmenopause, I have enough trouble sleeping without making it any harder! But my friend who has to be at work at 5am (horrors!) eats early in the day and doesn't have much in the evening.
As MerryMelb said, it is okay to be hungry! We will live! We might even enjoy it! Hunger makes food taste so good when you get to it! Really, one of the greatest gifts of 5:2 and fasting is that hunger loses its power over us. It is just a feeling, here and then gone. It no longer controls my life, and will no longer control yours. Just be patient and get through the first fasts. It gets easier! :victory:
Happy new year @Ferretgal
It's 20:20, the kitchen door is firmly shut and I'm feeling relieved to be back on routine. Back to work tomorrow  , a relaxing bath is calling and so to bed.
Hope everyone has had/is having a good fast day. :clover:
Hello all - today will be a fast day of questionable intention. I'm feeling quite ill with a horrible head cold, I have no appetite and all I've had today is tea (mostly herbal tisane with a drop of honey for my very sore throat). I am making some homemade chicken veggie soup for tonight, with onions, garlic, celery, carrot, zucchini, a small tin of chopped tomatoes, spinach and some chicken. That shouldn't have very many calories at all. I might even throw in a can of small white beans if I remember when I get up from the couch.

I hope you all have a successful fast :-)
