Hi!
I think I am the first to post on this? Couldn't find another thread anyway.

This is my third fast for the week, making up for last weekend's extreme overindulgence.
In the past I have had trouble doing a third fast in a week, but my resolve seems quite strong so far. It is already 4pm and I have managed with a stick of celery and carrot to tide me over til dinner at 6pm. Am looking forward to that!!

I have just been reading another thread where a number of people mentioned that 4:3 does not give much more weight loss than 5:2. That seems strange if on the non-fast days you stick to your TDEE. I guess I need to look at the topics that discuss this more. :)

Best wishes to any other fasters today - I know there will be some. :D
Hi, Sassy! Yes I'm in too! I've made a couple of amazing discoveries about fasting in the last week or so - the first one was that I actually enjoy a good black coffee - taste-wise I mean, I'm not so keen on the caffeine since I often struggle to sleep. But in all of my 57 years, I have never enjoyed black coffee, I just found it too bitter, but perhaps I never had a GOOD one before - sipping it gives such a complexity of flavour - Melbourne has a big coffee identity, but it had always passed me by until now. But now I find myself completely naive about how to buy or make coffee so it's drinkable, I'm sure many would laugh at that. I've got a lot of catching up to do!
The second thing is that, as Krista Varady mentions, chewing gum does help a lot - I had been finding myself a little lacking in oral gratification on fast days, and for me, the act of chewing does gives some satisfaction. I don't like having to dispose of the used bits though, that's fairly disgusting. And I so hate getting chewing gym on my shoes I couldn't live with myself if I just threw it on the street, so I've been putting it in tissues, then throwing them away, but even that's bad enough. Hmmm, not sure there's a solution to that!

Anyway, happy fasting everyone! I'm off to do some HIIT for the first time in about a month.
Good morning! Count me in today. I saw an advert in slimming world magazine about a new line of flavoured instant coffees, ie. Vanilla. Planning on checking it out this weekend. Hope today's fasters have a successful day.
A very quiet fasting day today it seems!

@jools7, sounds like 2 very useful findings for you! I am a black coffee drinker, but find it very hit and miss to get a good one - which is why I mainly drink instant, cos it is consistent. Have just started using coffee bags, they seem ok. Will be interested to see how Barclays is! :) and what gum is your gum of choice?
Yes, it'll be great to check out the coffee there. I just had a plunger supermarket coffee last weekend, arabica I think, it was quite a revelation. I've since had coffee bags (since I don't know anything about the art of making a good Melbourne coffee) but it was nothing like as complex, but still quite drinkable. For me the secret is to sip it, not glug it.

Gum - sorry I don't remember the brand, but it's the one in the shiny dark green packet with circles on it - spearmint, not peppermint. But it's the chewing action that floats my boat, rather than the taste, which only lasts a short time anyway. One of our American friends mentioned they can get one in the US which doesn't have any artificial sweetener in it, but as far as I know it's not available here.

Enjoy!
Ohhhhh you intrepid courageous saturday fasters! I take off my hat to you ! Xx
