Hi everyone
I hope all the newbies are going well in their first week or so, and all those of us returning are holding fast.

For those in the chillier northern hemisphere - an oxo cube soup, or miso soup can really help keep you going during the day. I keep some miso soup at work (powdered sachets) and make one when I feel I need something to keep me going. In sunnier Melbourne I am eating a couple of cherry tomatoes, and gherkins to get me through the afternoon spell.

I am doing a half-fast today and will have a normal non-fast dinner tonight. Getting an extra half fast in this week as tomorrow I am going to a high tea. Bound to be cakes galore, and champers of course!

Happy fasting!
I'm in, I've been in maintenance of 2 1/2 years now, just really fasting (or half-fasting, love that term) as & when either required (as in after Christmas LOL) or just because I feel the need. Shamefully I have got out of the habit of posting here. But I'm back to support a friend, @GillM, on her new journey.
Happy fasting to one & all
I'm in today. Thursday is not usually a fasting day for me but I just got back from a New Year's break yesterday and I need to get back to it. This will be my 1st proper fast since 21st December - wish me strength!
Happy fasting to you Annie, Gillm and Lil. We can do this! :clover:
I'm in today as well. It looks like a wet and windy day here but I've got plenty to do in the house before I go to work at 5pm. I'm planning a couple of oatcakes with humous at lunch time and scrambled egg on toast at about 4pm. That should see me through to the end of the day
I'm in today. Weds. is my normal day, but I was off for 3 Kings Day yesterday, so I knew that would be harder.
I just ate half a grapefruit for breakfast. We'll see if that helps or hurts me for the rest of the day! I don't plan to eat anything else until dinner, which is leftovers from Mondays fast, so it will be easy to prepare.
Have a great fast day!!
Hello :)

Today is my first ever fast. I'm about to eat lunch (my first food of the day); spinach and cottage cheese. I know that doesn't sound especially enticing but I really enjoy it. I thought the best way of sticking to a very small amount of food on fast days is to make sure those foods are ones I really like. So, I'm planning a low fat yoghurt as an afternoon snack and a big bowl of borscht (beetroot, carrots, celery etc) for dinner tonight. If I'm still hungry, I will have an egg too.

I'm allowing myself up to 600 calories because I weigh 298lbs and a quarter of my daily calories for maintenance comes out as much higher than most women. I hope that's not cheating? I'm trying to reduce my calorie intake slightly on my non-fast days as well so I don't fall into the trap of compensating by overeating when I can.

I'm feeling fine so far, not particularly hungry though I'd usually have eaten breakfast and a mid-morning snack by this time. I've drunk more tea than usual (the gorgeous Love herbal tea from Pukka). I'm also looking forward to a lovely lunch out tomorrow with a friend at at Yo! Sushi.
Today is my third fast since starting again and the first at work! I'm finding skipping breakfast makes it easier - I have just had my first food (a cup-a-soup) since 6pm last night, though I have had a couple of hot drinks. I plan to have a calorie-counted ready meal tonight and look forward to tomorrow! I'm also reading The chimp paradox which is very interesting on over-eating - has anyone else read it and found it helped?
I'm in today its been a long morning but ive only had hot drinks s far.
Good luck fellow fasters
I'm in today too. Happy New Year everybody, This week is my first one back after a 3-week pause for Christmas indulgence, during which it seems I put on 2 kg! :frown:

I fasted on Tuesday as well (didn't manage to get on here and post though), so this is my second and final fast of the week. Various hot drinks so far, including a mug of hot water with a slice of lemon first thing this morning, which is a new addition to my fasting regime for 2016 - it was certainly good for getting warmed up on a chilly January morning! Just had a light soup for lunch, then it will be a veg stir fry with egg later on.

:clover: :clover: everybody!
I'm joining you for my second fast of the week. Dinner is poached eggs and spinach followed by berries and yoghurt. Then the kitchen door is closed. Happy fasting :clover:
I'm in today; not quite 10am here, so am just working on coffee now. Hey @Rosefinch, welcome to the forum and 5.2! Here's a pdf I put together for a friend of mine, some have found it helpful:

I started at 208 lbs and have been 5.2ing since April 24, 2014, and have not missed one day, though I did switch days a few times. I've been hovering around 177lbs for awhile, but the good news is I haven't had a lot of trouble keeping it off--and isn't that the whole point? As I like to say, why lose weight you can't keep off? Until 5.2, I'd just decided never to "diet" again; was tired of the whole scene. Though I did think, early on, that it would take me only a few months to get where I "wanted" to be (150lbs), that didn't happen quite as easily as I'd hoped. It does seem that many of us plateau, and it depends on YOU how you respond to that. I've done a few things--went alcohol-free for 6 weeks (good for me, but didn't lose any weight); "recommitted" to keeping my light days under 500 cals (helped, lost a couple of pounds I'd regained); and what seems on the table now, being more mindful/restrictive on normal days....haven't gone there yet. I really need for this to be my lifetime Way of Life, and am hesitant to add more restrictions that make it feel like a diet! Plus, I'll be 60 in February, and they are saying that older women do well with slightly higher BMI, 27 or so; mine is just over that now. And while I dislike the roll still on my belly, it's still much better than before! Good luck and welcome! Believe me, you can share anything; someone here has been there, done that...
I Was there I managed on a couple of boiled eggs, an oxo and a nice dinner of chicken breast dusted with herby/spicy flour, courgette and celeriac fritters and a small salad.
I was here too, at least with a pretty restricted day. I opened the eating window at 1pm with a high protein shake (high fiber hemp powder, peanut butter powder, a banana and some unsweetened vanilla almond milk) and then had a lower carb dinner of spaghetti squash, roasted zucchini, marinara, meatballs and 1 small piece of cheesy garlic bread.
I fasted Thursday as well. How exciting to see so many fasters! I found this site heading into the holidays, so the fast day thread has been pretty quiet. I thought that was the norm. I'm going to be sure to come chime in when I'm fasting going forward.

I'm doing ADF (so I'm here a lot!). I've shifted to having my meal at lunch time (had been having breakfast). I'm less distracted in the evenings when I eat lunch instead of breakfast. Had soup for lunch yesterday. Pretty easy day and I'm feeling great!
